Now I know why some powders are harder to find than Waldo! Hodgson had a fire at the factory- so Winchester, imr and hodgson are owned by same company that explains lack of all three. Ya ya, I know of the hoarding- but even hoarders get too full. Unless ur a millionaire.

There was a fire/explosion at the ATK plant in Australia......that incident was documented....So if you are wondering what has happened to the Alliant powders, that is one reason for the shortage.....I had heard some scuttlebutt that there were actually two fires in as many weeks at the ATK plant....

How and why do those rumors ever get started?

Oh! BTW! I heard that there will be a shortage of Hornady products. Apparently, the factory was overrun by alien invaders! :)

that's not funny.............

But we heard that hornady will no longer be making 6mm or .308 bullets starting later this year, apparently they are going to put all of their efforts into 6.5mm, 6.8mm and 8mm bullets to captivate the metric markets, good news for some and bad news for others............

We regret to inform reloaders that, due to a recent issue with the production of AP70N, there will be a temporary interruption in the supply of AP70N only. Please note that none of our other powders are affected, we continue to produce and stock our entire range of reloading powders. Production of AP70N will resume early in 2014, please continue to check this website for updates. We regret any inconvenience caused by this disruption.

Disruptions to powder supply
6 June 2013

ADI Powders are aware that some of our customers may have lately experienced some difficulty in getting hold of some of our powders. We are aware of some temporary disruptions to powder supply at the moment, resulting in a few localised powder shortages. These disruptions are due to a combination of several factors, including regulatory changes, operational changes by transport contractors, and changes to our distribution arrangements. We are working with our distributor to address the issues created by these changes. "

Hodgdon has owned IMR and the Winchester powder brand name for years. Nothing whatever to do with fires. Some IMR powders are made in Quebec too.

Laugh2

So does this mean that .264, .277 and .318/.323 bullets will flood the market and what about .244 and 7.62mm bullets?

Seriously though, it is believable that something is amiss at Hodgons what with the few full shelves.

OK lets apply a little logic here. Why would they stop making one of the most popular bullets out there to aim for a smaller market of lesser known bullets. Add extra bullets yes but not delete one of the most popular.
