Looking for the shortest barrel bolt action large caliber hunting rifle.

If you got a year ideas I am all ears. Has to be legal to hunt with in Alberta, Yukon & BC.
Thank for any help.
Ben

That's gonna be a either a Ruger MKII compact or Hawkeye compact. The discontinued Ruger frontier is a 16.5" barreled 300WSM.
Absolute nonsense AFAIK. Yes I owned one years ago but the novelty wore off rather quick.

You are going to want an Alskan Bush Stalker or a Hog Stalker, to my knowlege, the Ruger compacts were not made in "large" calibers... Depending on what large is to you. You can have any gun chopped to 18" and this is probably the best route to go...

You could also do the Marlin Guide Gun SBL in .45/70... Loaded with 325 FTX's, it is a formidable tool.

Sako is now making the Model 85 Brown Bear with a 21" barrel in .416 Rigby, .450 Rigby and .500 Jeffery. I think the .500 Jeffery qualifies as a big bore.

tons of options, as posted above, you got to be a little more definitive as to what your looking for,

the 450 marlin steyr or 45-70 SBL would fit the bill and be great in thick bush with big alaskan game,

or you may want to be shooting out a bit further and a 375 ruger alaskan would fit that bill,

or maybe you want something with pretty walnut, the sako or a cooper would fit that bill too.

Cz 550 Fs in 9.3x62 nice little 20" barrel.

I believe it packs enough punch for what you intend to hunt.

Excellent choice, short and light, great to carry, I really like mine and they are a great shooter for a short barreled gun.
I also have a Ruger Frontier in 358 Win. and it has a 16.5 " barrel, doesn't balance as nicely as the CZ but it too is an excellent shooter.
Lots of choices out there if you look around...

Another vote for the .450 Marlin Steyr. It comes with a 22" barrel and the open sights are great for a bush gun. The adjustable stock is also a nice feature so you can custom fit it to your length of pull. Wide variety of loads in both jacketed and lead and can be loaded to suit your hunting situation. It is not however a long range shooter but large big bores seldom are.

Okay, it's a Steyr not a Sauer..... my bad. Yes, for large caliber, bolt action the Steyr should do it.
