Anybody else use an ANTLER TRAP to collect Whitetail ANTLERS

I just climb a tree and wait for one to walk under it. I jump down, land on its back and hang on tight. its like going to the rodeo! sooner or later they will break off in my hands. SCORE!!!!

Pilot 2001...... I'm 70 2 artificial hips, advanced arthritis, have been shot twice in line of duty...I don't hike much any more..I wish I could. Respectfully Doc

Well under those circumstances its a little different , I cant tell your age or physical condition by reading your profile ... and 90 + % of the guys using these tactics are in perfect physical condition. And if they are not ... they could be.

One of the other members already posted " what if the antlers are not ready to come off " so my opinion stands on the " Antler Trap " ... Its ridiculous

Why the fk cant people just go for a hike ? Trail cams and now this ? No one wants to put any time in any more ... Lazy

How are trail cameras lazy?! I simply use them to extend the time I have eyes in the field for when I need to spend time with my family, or job, or practicing with my weapon etc. Too each and their own!

I have found a few deer that while jumping a farmers fence got tangled and all that was left was bones and I have found moose that died tangled in fences or abandoned hydro lines. Would this be also considered harassing wildlife or just bad luck?

I would never be an advocate against trail cams ... and this is the first time ive ever been openly vocal about them but ... I think they are horrible , especially the ones that send pics to your phone. I personally don't think they are fair chase. Those bucks may not be in that spot if they smelled you , I don't agree with my friends sitting in Moxies half cut at midnight and getting a picture by text of a buck that has never been seen because it is the king of his domain and smart as fk .... and now some camera just sent some drunk a picture of exactly where he is and know one would have never known.

I don't agree with it .... its my opinion and I don't care what anyone says about it , As a mountain hunter that enjoy's the reward of tracking a monster in his own domain weather he is there or not ill never know until I see him with my own eyes. And if he dosnt make a mistake I never will ... I respect that.

Again I am not usually openly against trail cams and I wont ever sound off about it to other hunters because it think its grey area ... But as far as baiting bucks to entangle there antlers ... Its just getting carried away. Where do you draw the line ?

I remember the days when me and my old man would grab a Stanfield a pair of rubber caulk boots, our knives , bino's and the old 30-30 , jump in the truck cut a track and head up a hill ... just dosnt seem like hunting anymore.

What is wrong with people? First bows and arrows, then guns and ammo. What's next? Laser beams? I can't deal with technology!!!!!!

And being a helicopter pilot on the west coast I am sure you have never "scouted" from the air prior to hunting and I would bet you set it down at the base of the mountain and wait the required amount of legal time before walking up the mountainside to hunt??

I scrolled through the whole thread ... looked super hard , I missed the part where it said how long it had been since you picked up a set of regs ? Anyway ... you can get them at any local sporting good store , they are a great read ... I suggest you have a look , Its clearly been awhile !

Is this guy for real ?

Please let me know how long you have to wait before you can hunt after moving hunters and hunting supply's with a " HELICOPTER " It would be a great wealth of knowledge and save me a TONNE of energy because ive wasted all of this gas in my truck and all of this time hiking all over the mountains on foot when CLEARLY I could have just flown there in my " HELICOPTER " and waited some " AMOUNT OF TIME " and shot the hell out of everything I saw in range !

That pretty much wraps it up for me on this thread ... Happy deer trapping !

I'm not lazy, i'm 20 years old working two jobs and in college, I live an hour away from my farm. Can't go sit in it everyday just to figure out which side of the road the deer are on that season. A trail cam is an easy way come hunting season for me to decide which section of land to focus on. Still Fair Chase as I've gone many times with nothing to show. Different circumstances for different people. If you don't think its cool don't do it. Don't chastise others for it or immediately resort to calling us lazy. Not all of us can afford such a big horse to ride around on :(

also i use it mostly for coyote hunting and ya why wouldnt i do everything possible to help me shoot a few of those?
