Here it is finally! Got my Prowler III this evening

Thanks
Kate"

Very nice of her to get back to me that fast. Forgot to ask the DOB so sent another email and Brenda confirmed it was handbuilt in August 2005.

Had a chance to rack the slide a couple of times and it's the tightest 1911 I had the pleasure to rack. I've owned an EB SS Exc. Target a Valtro 1998A1 & a Springfield Pro Operator among others (those were the tightest). I tought the Pro was the tightest till this one... Unbelivable!

I've took a few quick crapy IPhone pics and measured the 50 yards group Les Baer shot with it...

Can't wait to bring her at the range and start the breakin process with M-Pro 7 oil , boresnake & some 230gr. FMJ's! It should get done next Saturday. Will take some dirty pics while I put her through her paces!

Enjoy the ####...

This is 10 shots from a Ransom Rest at 50 yards... The group is .814"!

Thanks Rivalen!

This LB 1.5" @ 50y Prowler III wins the title in the tightness dept.

I'll give it a good breakin next Saturday (over 500 rounds of 230gr FMJ's) and will report back with some pics & details.

Mmmmm....Prowler III.......I think I guessed right! Congrats, you'll love the bear coat. The only thing that I would change (besides the mags) are the grips. I also have a test target but mine has only one hole,, Les must have shot yours on a Friday evening...::p

Seriously....it will be hard to field strip the first time so if you need help, I will fly over and show you how to, without making an idiot scratch!;)

Now we should wake up BenL....

Congrats again

OK

Sure, I'll give it 500+ rounds Saturday and will drop by whenever you like so you can show me that one hole test target! :slap:

You did guess right OK! I was after one of these for over 5 yrs but they never pop up for sale anywhere since they are custom orders. I've heard from a source who supposedly asked Les himself while at a gunshow a few years back that the shop makes two or three Prowler a year. Don't know if it's true but it surely made my decision to buy easier. With the factory options on this one (nearly all those I wanted), I had no choice but to get it.

Thanks guys! Looks like tomorrow will be a fun day @ the range! I'll bring 800 rounds just for her, lets hope time will allow me to shoot at least 5-600 rounds to complete a good break-in. Will report back with dirty pics.

Good to hear that you are going to shoot it and not keep it as a safe queen. Please report back with your results, would love to know how reliable they are out of the box.

They are known to be among the most reliable and precise semi-custom 1911 you can buy. I know many shooters south of the border that have shot tens of thousands rounds without any problems. How many companies do you know that will guarantee less than 1 1/2 inch grouping at 50 yards. It takes Les Baer 8 extra labour hours on the gun to bring the grouping from 3 to 1 1/2 inch. Les shoots the gun himself and won't ship it if he's not totally satisfied with it.

Yeah, I know. Baer guns are very tight. That's why I'm interested to see how it will do out of the box. Will be watching this thread with interest.
