If I buy a restricted tavor and decide down the road I would to change the barrel to non restricted length is it easy to do? who sells the 18.5" barrels? and at what cost?

Why.... Just get the NR now, save yourself a lot of hassle.
I like to have options. I want the short barreled version, but I know I would get more use out of a non restricted. If I could have both for the cost of another barrel and the hassle of some paper work it would be nice.

Why don't you buy the NR and get a R barrel later on if that's what you want. It seems most people get more use out of a NR gun, and a shorter barrel is usually cheaper to get made.

If its the American version I would consider buying it and ordering the Canadian barrel just so I can use American accessories such as trigger kits and the 9mm conversion...

get a NR one what's 3" on a bullpup. plus you get a fair bit more velocity to match. even with the 18.6" version the thing is tiny . in pictures the long barrel does look kind of silly but when you get your hands on one its will surprise you how compact it actually is.
