the powder shortage is over

Tinman......I phoned Cabelas here in Winnipeg last week when their website showed stock.....the rep told me they received 82 pounds of Varget in the warehouse......did you leave any for the rest of us...?

There is no shortage.
Keep in touch with a few different suppliers and once in a while you will get a call that some came in.
I turned down over 30lbs of Varget during the "shortage"
I took 4-5 lbs from each store that called and told them I didn't want to take it away from their other clientele.

Some people piss and moan, nickel and dime their local retailers so why would they look out for you when you need something.
I have a standing order at 2 stores.
8lbs of Varget and 5,000 CCI BR-2 primers at one store.
8lbs of 4064 and 5,000 210M primers at the other.
When the order comes in I reorder another 8lb jug.

I grabbed only 4 pounds as I still have some 4895 to work with. That should keep me going for awhile!!

I like Varget as well mainly in my 22-250, 260 and 308 calibers. I too got a small stash of it tucked away. Ordered alot of mine thru Cabelas to take advantage of the free store to store shipping (Wpg to Stoon).

You took all that time to neatly pile up a bunch of Varget, take pics and upload it to CGN to what...boast over...to take pride in?? You are da man!!!!

Some people take great pleasure in "I got all the powder and you got none ..na, na, na, na..."

You and your poor buddies gotta stop whining when those of us who can afford to buy powder in bulk do so. I doubt there is any other tangible item you would whine about so why whine about powder?

You and your rich buddies gotta stop buying up all the powder so as those of use who can not afford to buy powder in bulk can buy a pound or two when we need it. I doubt you really need all this stock-piled powder and why rub it in our faces?

i am by no means rich, i shoot about 15,000 rounds a year not including rimfire but it's not rich people buying up the powder. it's the people in the states from panic buying to new reloaders because of ammo shortages. i doubt the people here who shoot enough have changed their buying habbits a whole lot, certainly not enough to cause the shortages.

besides that it's fun to see how much stuff people have, can never drool to much!

I am certainly not rich, but I don't smoke, or go to casinos, and I don't drink much, and since I don't spend several thousand dollars each year on those things, I can afford to spend a few thousand dollars each year on components.

Rich ? Lol I don't know about the other fortunate people that have posted in this this thread but like stubblejumper..

I don't
Drink
Smoke
Do drugs
Go to clubs or bars
Go out to dinner every night
Party
Buy things I don't need for the sake of buying things

I do
Work my ass off
Watch my spending
Make smart $ decisions

Being rich isn't a matter of how much money you have . It's about getting a your priorities right so your output is less then your income.. I have a friend who makes 11-12$ an hour. Rents her own suit (any one in Vic knows this is expensive!) and manages to go on a 2-3week vacation every year

Exactly, I hear people talking about how stupid some people are to spend $2000 on a firearm, or $1000 on a scope, but those same people spend thousands every year smoking, thousands more drinking, and thousands more gambling. In the end, I still have the firearms and optics, and the other people just have damaged lungs and livers. Who is really the stupid one?

THIS. It's not hard to get sidetracked, though.

I DO smoke cigarettes, something that needs to be remedied, to the cost of abotu $2500 a year between the wife and I. We go out for dinner occasionally. I don't always make smart spending decisions. As such, I'm just about out of powder :)

I don't think it's quite over yet, I have not seen an Alliant canister on shelves for more than a year now and when I ask I get the same blank stare and the same response....." Dunno".
As far as stockpiling goes, well let's just say "I've weathered the storm well" and have purchased powder when it became available, plus what I had on hand. Could use some RL 15 cause I'm down to a pound or so but I'll get through.......To buy lots of something when there is lots available is not hoarding it's called preparedness, those of you who whine about shortages need to learn this. The powder that I purchased 2 or 3 8lbrs of when WSS had a dozen of them on the shelf, was also available to you at the same time, but you didn't prioritize your funds correctly and now you are out. OBVIOUSLY loading and shooting are not as important in your life as it is in mine !!!!!!
Having lived in the Yukon for well over half my life I learned to stock up in times of plenty, because these kind of shortages are a way of life there. The LGS was usually out of a lot of things so anytime I drove south I would allocate as much money as I could to buying components. Mostly powder and primers as bullets and the like popped in the mail without problems and I could order them and brass from WSS without hassle.
This discussion can go on ad infinitum, because throughout history there have always been the "grasshoppers and the ants" and that's just the way it is and ain't likely to change any time soon..........hasn't this been the cause of several wars, and endless revolutions....

All things considered, US has 300,000,000 people, say 25,000,000 are gun owners in one form or another. Get the Obama BS going, suddenly another 25,000,000 or so start buying. US has shortages when trying to feed ammo for a force of 400,000 soldiers in the Gulf, of which say 75.000 are active combat soldiers. Say 10,000,000 new people bought guns, then 5 boxes of ammo, and 10% of that 50,000,000, bought a reloading kit, then powder and bullets. And then there are the hoarders.
That is the picture of what happened, it is starting to settle down a bit, has a ways to go yet. And we have had very little in the way of supply problem compared to down south.

The 50 mil gun owners don't own just one gun.
