772 pound Pennsylvania black bear

Yeah, the hunting is so much better in PA...they get a whole FOUR DAYS for bear season! Wow!

That's a beautiful bear, no matter where it came from.

his comment wasn't just about bear hunting but other game as well, deer also. at first my response to him was similar to yours a knee jerk reaction somewhat one that is mired in patriotic notions. How can that be...we live in the great white north yada yada yada....
Then he provided me with numbers....and it was hard to believe.

hunters in the state of Pennsylvania harvest in a typical year ( 330,000 in 2011) almost as many as the total population of deer in the entire province of Ontario (est 400,000). That same year 2011, the total harvest in Ontario was 66,000.

Yeah but... once you read the comments in that first clip, oh boy! People really go ape s*$#.

If it stays in the headlines long enough with positive praise the negative crowd will move on and take there cause elsewhere...........

You ever driven through Pennsylvania? There is a dead deer on the road on every few clicks of interstate. Hardly seems like they're making a dent in the population. I don't know the numbers but there are a hell of a lot of deer around down there.

Just looked it up. The population is estimated in the 1.2-1.5 Million range. That's a lot of goddamn deer.

There are only half the deer there that there used to be. I have hunted Pa for the 15 years spring and fall and the numbers of the deer were higher but not as much anymore after they put on antler restrictions. A hunter in some counties can take a 3 point to one side and counties like I hunt it has to be 4 points on one side. I remember back 10-15 years ago when it would be nothing to see 30 deer in a night. I only see 30 in a week now. Bears tend to grow large but again they only have a week to hunt them and the numbers are not as high as ours so they have room to grow in some counties. I've seen the turkey numbers drop there in the last 4-5 years to the point that we near have more then the county I hunt.

One thing that Ontario or Canada for that fact, will never out do is the price of Non res licences. $147.00 dollars for a buck tag, 3 turkey tags and small game...

Something I forgot to bring up is there is twice amount of hunters there as we have here too...
