Rifle has nice wood, looks nicer than an over the counter rifle today, has open sights and a barrel band for the sling stud.

I see these go for more than the average model 700 but not sure how much, I found the identical rifle in the Cabelas gun library and its listed at 2899$ and its listed as having a few scratches on the metal and several on the wood.

I just bought one in 458 with dies and bullets and 100 brass for 900............on the EE, you can judge from that if you like and it was on for 3 weeks, didn't just snap up a super deal. Condition is excellent, not quite LNIB.

I bought one brand new from Cam - I can't remember the name of his shop, but it was on 115th in Edmonton, in 1994 for $900. I really liked it, but there is no way I would pay anywhere near $2899 for one. C-FMBI - are you talking about that Stainless Sythetic that was in the EE? I was tempted by it as I thought it was a pretty good deal.

Back to the OP, I also had a Custom C Grade from Remington in .375 H&H. IIRC I bought it for $1,100 or so and sold it for the same amount. It was minty and had fantastic wood:

1899...........Nope the one I bought is wood/blued with the nice rosewood forend tip and grip cap.............might have a photo, I'll look.

Very soon to be a 458 Ruger, just waiting for my barrel vise to arrive here from Whitehorse, then I'm going to Calgary to buy me a new lathe...........

That looks like a Custom C Grade too. Mine also had the rosewood fore-end plus the cross bolt were covered with rosewood caps too. The Safari had a stock that looked like the Classic, but with a barrel band. You scored a pretty good deal with that one.

Way back these used to be the only rifles Remington offered in the 375, 458 and later the 416 RM. I'm not familiar with the rifle the OP is talking about then..........so just ignore me, my comparison is irrelevant...... sorry.

Here is a link to a Safari Classic, but for some odd reason it doesn't have open sights (which were just like the ones on the BDL):

That's uncommonly nice looking. Might even tempt a guy like me to let a Remington in the house!

Keep in mind that the MSRP on these is US$3000 - they better give you a nice hunk of lumber for that much money! The rosewood accents also look much nicer than the regular BDL offerings. All in all they sure are nice rifles.

Here's the 2 pics I have of it, doesn't show the wood very well, I really like this cartridge, I already have a Sako AV in 416 but can't pass this one up, probably will end up selling one of them.

That is an interesting rifle. I've never seen the BDL style stock combined with the barrel band.

1899...........I don't think that's a BDL stock, as Rem never put any heavies in BDL stocks, that is the same model as mine and your pics, with a barrelband front sling attachment. Looks to have the rosewood grip cap, forend tip and crossbolt plugs, same as ours, just the barrelband sling attachment ours doesn't.

You are probably right. The other thing that I didn't mention about mine that was quite interesting is the brown recoil pad. Until then I had never seen one like it.

When you decide which one PM me either one is fine as I love both the AV and the Rem, and I'm looking for a 416 bore for an experiment I'd like to play with. My 602 is already too big in the chamber being a 416 Rigby.
