New Girsan compact catastrophic failure

I was expecting worse. I have seen Sig Sauers and other alloy guns have a failure like that and am always impressed with the strength of the alloy frame.
Hopefully a 'smith can take care of that for you.

I am hoping that its fixable, my dad is such a stand up guy he is going to cover the repair or replace it. All depends on what the smith says.

Key points, is it repairable? Roughly how much? Will it be safe once its repaired?

It could have been a squib load...no powder and the primer drives the bullet up the barrel far enough to allow another round to chamber and fire.
Just an alternative to the double charge idea.
I came close to having this happen except that the bullet didn't go far enough up the barrel to allow another round to fully chamber..saved my a$$ on that one.

Awe be a stand up guy and say "forget it Dad, thanks for all the free meals and of course the good advice over the years."

3 times lucky!

1) You're OK and weren’t seriously injured

2) You're dad is a stand up guy

3) You're wife is supportive of you rather than knocking you over the head with a frying pan after the incident.

Leave that gun exactly the way it is and make it a “wall hanger” reminder of your good fortune.

Now go out and buy a new gun and let the old man off the hook...get the wife a little something too.

Thanks for sharing this story with us...others will benefit!
