Believe that it was from the horses mouth (someone from the store anyway) that they were bought by those able to get the offer but didn't actually want them. Flip them for a quick buck, and two people get apparently good rifles.
The quick buck was made by the shop, not by the guys that first bought the rifles.

We all do things for a reason? So why would these guys and I'm assuming O.P.P. or military do that for chump change or not even beer money for complete strangers? If friends bought the guns they could have sold directly to them?

Believe it or not, people buy things, despite good deals, and they decide the product isn't for them. Are you telling me you've never bought something in your entire life where you didn't think to yourself "It was cheap, but I didn't need it....think I'm going to return it" Nevermind firearms, anything. It happens. Besides, they may not have friends that want it (I know lots of friends who aren't members and have no interest in the 10TR), and why should they go to the trouble to post them on EE just to have their integrity questioned? Posthing #### up on EE takes time, replying, verifying PALS, payment, packaging and shipping all take time. It's a massive undertaking compared to driving back to the shop to get their money back.

Anyway, if you still think these cops/Mil are trying to make a buck, here:

16 January 2014

The Savage Model 10TR rifles that were recently sold through Ellwood Epps were rifles that were previously sold to former LEO and military personnel customer, but who, for reasons not asked or disclosed to us, elected to trade those guns back into our store. We relisted those rifles as being in Excellent condition, as both units were returned only days after the purchases were made.

There was no effort to undermine the Savage offer to LEO/military sales only on these rifles. Once a firearm is returned to our store, it becomes free and clear to be sold to any buyer, regardless of their employment history. The price of $799.00 was justified against the price of a standard Savage Model 10 Precision Carbine (cat #19626 @ $906.25 new), and a Model 10 FCP HS Precision Law Enforcement rifle (cat #18139 @ 1,212.20 new).

Yes, two lucky customers did manage to purchase those guns at very reasonable prices, and are now proud owners of somewhat exclusive Savage rifles not readily available to the general public. If additional examples do arrive in our store as trade-ins, they, too, will be posted for sale, and you, too, can purchase one of these guns, provided you are the first to contact our store to do so.

As always, it pays to keep a watchful eye on our website. You never know what might show up!

If you think these members were trying to make a buck, that's probably all they got, a buck. $599 plus tax, the retailer (Epps) isn't going to say "hey, let's give these cops a $200 profit while we take these rifles, put them on our shelves and sell them with zero profit margin!"

And I'm not trying to make this point to make the retailer look like a bad guy here. Far from it. The retailer is free to make whatever profit he thinks he can make. It's called business. They didn't open up a shop so they could get us guns as a non-profit charity. They determined that the market value for an equivalent rifle is $799. Personally, I think they were nice about it. They could have easily marked it up to the value of a Remington 5R and I bet someone still would have bought it. They could have gouged some consumer, but they didn't. They sold it at $799 and somewhere out there, two firearm owners are happy because they feel like they got a good deal because they paid $799 for a rifle that's probably worth more.

Question on this Savage LE 10TR, okay LE is Law Enforcement, what does the TR stand for Tactical Rifle, Tuff Rifle, True Rebel, Turtle Racer???
I did check Savagearms.com they did have a page with some of the meanings and listed nothing for TR...
I'm sure someone is saying "I know I know!" Please post the answer :)

Weatherby uses the TR accronym for "Threat Response". Not 100% sure if Savage has the same nomenclature.

Yes!!! Threat Response from +800 metres away, I don't like getting to close to black or grizzly bears...

Canada Post indicates delivery (payment) to SFRC, can't wait for them to be open to change my order from "pending"....

Getting excited!!! :dancingbanana::dancingbanana::dancingbanana:

Most of the first batch have shipped. The second batch will start going out later this week.

My rifle just got delivered by UPS about 10 minutes ago. I just wanted to say thanks SFRC for giving us access to this deal, and to Savage for supporting the LE/Mil Crowd. To my knowledge only Glock and Savage have an Individual Officer Purchase Program in Canada, so kudos to them.

So does NEA...
