10/22 Light "black" stock that doesn't require the top rail

Hical is bringing in some underfold stocks, mfr website says they're 2.8 lbs. I weighed my birch stock and it is 2.75 lbs. They use AK grips and come with a Hogue AK grip. I've found a couple reviews from the states that were all positive.
They don't use AK grips.

Underfold stocks are already in the country since last summer.
As excited as i was about that stock, it turned out to be a BIG DISAPPOINTMENT.
Weak, flimsy, the stock piece is aluminum and it feels like krap.
The gun does not seat properly into the stock.
A piece of sh!t.

if you want light, nothing beats the Axiom

True, but the reviews I've seen mentioned it being a bit flimsy, so I'll sacrifice a bit of weight for a nice solid-feeling stock as long as it's not too much of a sacrifice. That's why I went with Choate. I still appreciate all the options given to me by the community as I was able to make an informed decision based on what's out there and I haven't heard about most of those manufacturers making 10/22 stocks until this thread got posted. Thanks go out to everyone! Also if you guys have other ideas or reviews of some of these options, feel free to post them. You never know when this thread will come in useful to someone else :)

So was I... (I'll edit that post).
If someone is holding on hard enough on a 10/22 stock that they are flexing it when they shoot... maybe something is wrong with their technique. Had a look at the axiom stock a while, I thought it had potential.

Noted. Unfortunately, I don't have the opportunity to try different stocks with receivers mounted in them so my research consisted of looking up reviews of the ideas posted in this thread. Who knows, Axiom might have been perfect for my needs, but I didn't wanna gamble another $100 testing the theory. Choate was well-reviewed and a brand name I trust from other applications so I went with them instead.

I like my ati strike force. Don't know if it's your style but I have a trs 25 on the receiver rail. Its plenty sturdy, doesn't feel like a toy, no rattles and I really dig the how adjustable it is.

I was turned off ATI stocks due to their SKS stock which uses questionable attachment methods. Tapco was a little better in that department. Good to know that they got a solid solution for the 10/22 platform.

Thanks for the quick n' dirty Lector, I had planned to buy one but wanted to hold off until others had some feedback. Underfoldstocks.com advertises them as using a Hogue AK grip, I wonder if that's new since they first hit Canada? Heres a snip from Hical's thread that is copied directly from the website "The pistol grip is an over molded Hogue AK grip that is interchangeable with any AK grip". But at any rate, I had concerns about cheek weld as I don't see a useable cheek weld being possible with the stock tubes being offset so far from centerline. I'm a cheek weld kinda guy and cant stand cheap junk so I think that's the final nail in the coffin for me. Oh well.

They don't use AK grips.

I need a tactical ergos stock for a 10/22. Nomad is WAY too heavy for action shooting. 5.56 requires that top rail or it'll come loose. I need something a lot lighter than Nomad that will allow me to use the metal rail that I attached to the top of the receiver. Any ideas? Thanks in advance guys

Sell yours, get this and be done with it : http://www.ruger.com/products/sr22Rifle/models.html

Or do as I and just mount optics/red dot on what you have and start shooting.

I will eventually get SR22 and pink stock for my current so I can pass it to my daughter. You can never have too many 22s.

:)

Already ordered and paid up, just waiting for it to get here from Summerland.. Is it gonna be tan or black? :D Until then, I'm working on the trigger.. Started out at 5.25, hoping to bring it down into the 2-3lb range.

If you want some files on how to make your stock trigger into a fully adjustable unit just PM me your email and I'll send them to you. You need a few metalworking skills but really not that hard to do.

Thanks for the offer. For now, I'm following the trigger polish tips in that tips and tricks thread. Will also stone the hammer and see where that takes me, but any extra knowledge can't hurt, can help ;) PM sent

Just wanted to give an update.. Trigger job done to my satisfaction. Brought her down to about 2.75lbs, which is just fine for action shooting. Tested the sear engagement by whacking the back of the receiver a few times with a rubber mallet (stayed cocked), pulling the trigger, re-cocking, a few more whacks, pulling again, rinse and repeat a couple more times. This will not be a target gun. It was embarrassing to have my bone-stock poodleshooter have lighter pull than my rimfire lol. Also reduced the creep and did the auto bolt release mod. My thanks go out to everybody who contributed to the sticky, RFC and last, but not least, elimsprint for the additional tips e-mailed to me. It's kinda crazy that I've had this rifle since October and haven't fired a single round with it, but as soon as the stock arrives, off she goes for range testing. Will get my hands on an extended mag release while I'm at it, of course. The 1/4" delrin bolt stop will take a bit of muscling, so I didn't bother with it for now. Will do when the stock arrives in the mail.
