So...any of you westerners gearing-up for gopher season? :)

Here is some iffy pics I just snapped (I find it difficult to get good photos of long guns..)
Ignore the scope and rings, I am getting better stuff by the time the season ''opens'' ;)

Hey, if anybody reasonably close to Saskatoon wants their gophers exterminated, I'd be more than happy to come out some weekend and vaporize a few. I don't get nearly enough of those invites!

C'mon now, you don't look that old lol

I don't mind gophers...as long a they're not in my fields ; )

There's a couple of buffalo pastures a few miles away that are alive with them.

I think the high water table has them turning aquatic or morphing into swamp rats around here.

Had a muskrat walk across the road a few yards in front of my pickup last week...

It was a tongue in cheek comment. Guess a smiley would have helped :D

I have a house in a city too. Don't see many grass rats there though...and wouldn't care if I did.

Happy blasting lads, kill em all if you can.

Not that old nope. Our farm is up by blaine lake and numbers were not good at all last year.
Lots of "rats" in saskatoon just the 2 legged kind.

Ditto here for anyone around Calgary. Gopher extermination used to be a favorite pass time for my dad and I back home in Eastern Saskatchewan. I don't have much family here in Calgary so I welcome opportunities to try my savage mk2 tr

don't have pics ...but started this years hunting preps when first snow fell and .22 shells were low priced. Over 20,000 rounds so far and the Winchester 490s all cleaned and ready to go ( have 2 in case one gets too hot). Maybe i will take my BSA .222 out for some long ones and badgers, coyotes etc. Last year was amazing and left enough to build this years shooting.

Nice. The 455 isn't looking like such a bad idea, but guess I'll have to start getting used to the idea of polymer mags.

you folks have as much water as we do here. (I go through BL twice a month)
and yup to the rats in Toon...shame no season...

we have a pile of snow to lose before the grass rats are out here...

Ya last year was a disaster there. Extreme amount of water. Many washed away roads. Lots of snow out there as well. Where abouts are you?

I'm another hour+ North, just south of the Park.

Same story here...the RM used up their road budget putting culverts in.

the road was washed out on both sides of me til they dumped a load of pit run for me to fix it with...that mighta been the year before...

a lot less snow once a fella gets south of the river...

I have a great gopher recipe.

Skin a gopher rub with garlic and pepper small amount of olive oil. Place on a wet cedar plank just like salmon is done on the barbeque.
Usually done in about 20 min's. Throw away the gopher and eat the plank. "LOL"

only city folks hope for gophers...

I hope there's a sh!t load of potholes this year...

Ain't that the truth. Ours had been left by previous owner to pretty much live and multiply as they please. The front pasture is overrun and so full of holes its a gong show to hay.

I am really hoping they just don't wake up. I simply don't have the time to eradicate one at a time.

I am indeed ready and anxious to get out and have some fun, already started stocking up on .17 HMR. My current rifle of choice is just a plain jane Savage 93R17 topped with a 3-9x40 Simmons. Pictured here with my solvent trap which I will use to clean my rifle after repeated gohper slayings.
