I'm not going to say the "B" word, but, I have to ask. Was the rifle all original and matching, or was it something put together from spare parts?

The stock number of the bottom is not really legible but the last number on it does not match. oh it's not spare parts. It's still a good shooter, too bad the original apreture sight is gone. it's one of the competition target rifles.

Oh, well. Even if you plan on keeping it and passing it down to the future generation, you do realize that it's market value has now likely dropped by half or more?

I liked it much....much better before.....like way more

like getting a fresh piece of apple pie vs a punch in the face better

but it's yours, not mine....

still, liked it before better...Sophia Vergara better

this bums me out...original stock wasn't even beat...it was in awesome shape. dammit, I have a beater I could have traded you.....sigh

OP....not trying to dog pile on ya.....it is YOUR property and absolutely your right to do with it as you wish.

I even get wanting to mess around a bit and try stuff. Honestly, I do. I've been doing little restore jobs to some of my rifles in an attempt to make them more correct, fix cracks...stuff like that.

Guess I just would have found a different candidate for a stock re-finish. Not that I can say for sure if your rifle had a correct or original finish for it's model type. But it looked pretty good.

I've refinished stocks myself. Notably my 1927 91/30.....however, I took a rifle that had been incorrectly, and really poorly refinished before it ever came to me....so damage already done.

Anyway, thanks for sharing...hell, at least you didn't sporterize her !!
