AT-15 Pistol Magazine

A .50beo AT-15 isn't ruled out, nor is a AT-15 .50beo pistol ruled out by the sounds of it ;).

I doubt they will make a profit on the pistol, but they will become extremely wealthy based on magazine sales. if there were .50 pistol mags for sale they could basically just say we want a blank cheque and we will send you X amount of mags for whatever price we want; they would end up with a #### load of blank cheques hahah.

50 "Beowulf" mags are a no go for us. We have already been advised by Alexander that the "Beowulf" is their proprietary name and that litigation will follow if we have mags made and marked "Beowulf"

We had a long meeting with CAA last week at SHOT. The next generation mags will be slightly curved so as to feed better, the Feed lips will be thicker and more structural so the forcing an extra round in is impossible. There are also a few other small changes so that the mags will not require altering in order to fit several other guns as the 1 gen did.

The downside of all of this is that new molds are being made, that coupled with CAA moving their facility has delayed the next shipment.
We were hoping that the Gen 2 mags would be here shortly, however the current Gen 2 prototype is still not quite perfect. Rather than have any issues at all we collectively opted to continue development until they are. Our projection for the release of our Gen 2 mags is now looking like May or early June 2014.

We also have a short 10 round in the works. Longer than the LAR mags by about 3/4" and a real GOOD coupler system. These mags will be opposing when coupled for faster spin and in reloads.
These should land here in the next 60 days.

Yup. Just mark them .50 and away you go. If they are threatening litigation to the name only, not the size or shape, then nothing should stop you.

Believe me we have looked at EVERY possibility, there is much more than simply marking a mag .50 in order to get an approval.
If it were as simple as you think it would have already been done.

Spending hundreds of thousands of dollars fighting litigation from either another company or our government and risking a business I have spent most of my life developing is just not something I want to risk, just to please a few guy for a short time.

Some very good common sense there! What about an ATRS 308 pistol mag? or is there not enough interest in that?

Thanks for the clarification.

I purchased AT-15 mags and I m
having issues using it in my TAR-21. I filled down the back to make it square shape and it works better but the bolt will catch sometimes. What do I do?

Hmmm, well, maybe they should get off their A$$es and trademark it in Canada then if they want to make that threat eh? Unless their application is pending, they hadn't trademarked the name as of 4-5 months ago....

That's like telling an aftermarket car parts company that you can't say your part is made for ### type vehicle....

I know this discussion has run rampant before, and you certainly don't have to take the risk, but, it's just strange how everyone is afraid of using that name? You're not making ".50 Beowulf", you're making a product designed to accomodate .50 Beowulf....

You'd think Alexander Arms would be thrilled to see aftermarket adoption of one of their proprietary cartriges, as, it would only mean greater sales for .50Beowulf ammunition, if companies were to make magazines for it's specific use.... ;)

Anyways, in light of the RCMP saying to NR that they considered the product a "dual-use" type device, you're probably best not to sink any money into it....
