So...any of you westerners gearing-up for gopher season? :)

I bought what may be the last few bricks of 17HM2 in the west in preparation for the gopher patch. MKII and 917V in 17HM2, a 93R17 in 17HMR and several .22s ready to go.

I'm always ready for gophers. My gun of choice is a Ruger Model 1 in 22-250.

As for the eating part......the pieces are flying in all sorts of directions from 22-250 hollow points, nothing left to eat even if you were starving!

I am indeed ready and anxious to get out and have some fun, already started stocking up on .17 HMR. My current rifle of choice is just a plain jane Savage 93R17 topped with a 3-9x40 Simmons. Pictured here with my solvent trap which I will use to clean my rifle after repeated gohper slayings.

What's a solvent trap

Look at his pic again. Its clearly a home made suppressor using a threaded adapter and an oil filter, he's just trying to be clever. Posting prohibited devices on the net isn't all that smart though.

I have seen those adapters available on US websites. More of a troll question on my part to see what kind of creative answer I could get. Lol

Wasn't there a CGNer who organized a prairie dog shootin' jamboree out in Sask. or Alta. A while back. .?

just wondering do you guys eat the gophers that you shoot ?

No. :puke: Among other things, I've seen gophers chock full of worms. I had a big golden retriever cross that used to run out and fetch gophers I had just shot. I had him trained to wait until I gave him the go ahead. He would sit behind me, then run out and get one and bring it back to eat. I looked back one time and he was just chowing down on one full of worms. :p

It was for ground squirrels, not prairie dogs, there is no legal shooting of prairie dogs in Alberta, or Saskatchewan.

I'm ready with NS522 with bushnell 3-9x and my new Remington 700 in .223 with a 5-15x, just don't know anywhere in Manitoba where they need em thinned out.

I'll load up 200 rounds of 222, 200 of 19 Calhoon, 200 of 204 ruger, and 200 of 22 hornet, then for rimfire I will shoot some 17HM2, 17 HMR, a bunch of 22 rimfire that has been accurized with the Paco tool. Got into some real nice patches last year where we could break out the centerfires and shoot all day. FS
