Why not a semi-auto 22LR handgun that takes 10/22 mags?

Last year, I saw a posting from few sites that Ruger has discontinued the CHARGER due to lack of demand. Few dealers still have this pistol in stock. As with the magazine, 10 rounder for a centerfire pistol is the maximum legal limit. But this is like a gray area. JR Carbine uses Glock pistol magazine. Classified as NR rifle, centerfire, a 5-rd pinned magazine is required. Am I interpreting this mag restriction for a JR carbine incorrectly being a mag that is also used in Glock pistols?

I'm not sure you are clear on what he was saying... It is the mags designation that determines its capacity... A mag designated as for handguns is limited to 10 rounds (as you said)... BUT, a mag designated for a rimfire rifle can have an unlimited capacity, and may ALSO be used in a compatable handgun fully loaded (legally)... That is the primary draw of the Charger... There is a dedicated group of Charger shooters at local ranges here, and they pretty much all run the BC Steel Lips 25 rounders.

No, you said handguns are limited to 10 rounds, which is not correct. Handgun MAGS are limited to 10 rounds. In the case of rimfires, the rifle mags have no capacity limit. Using a rimfire rifle mag in a pistol lets you have no mag capacity limits and is perfectly legal.

All pistols have a 10 round capacity limit, not just centerfires. There is no gray area at all, the RCMP have been very clear that the mag capacity is determined by what the mag was designed to be used in. The JR uses pistol mags and they have a capacity limit of 10 rounds. Just because you are using them in a rifle there is no change, they are still pistol mags under the law and have the 10 round limit the same as all other pistol mags.

No
We were talking about mag's so when I said HG= 10 it means HG mag = 10
Sorry you couldn't comprehend that I hope it is now clear to you

How exactly would you make a typical handgun using a 10/22 mag?

It is not a straight magazine and would not fit inside a pistol grip.

Sounds like a terrible idea to me....
