what the best reticle of sightron for long range ??? ( 1000 yards )
i love the lrmoa but I'm not sure for the dot in middle

Don't they only have one MOA reticle?

That's all I've seen. It's pretty good. I don't mind the dot at all. It's quite easy to hold on. I prefer more faint markings (1 moa hash marks), but I'm not certain I've found a favorite reticle yet.

But that's 10" at 1000yards.. does that still work ok?

My scope is a 6-24 SFP LRMOA.
At 6x, the dot subtends 1 moa; at 24X, it is .25 moa. That is approximately 2 1/2" at a thousand. I would not select 6X for shooting at 1000y. Even if it were used at 6X at a thousand, the one minute dot would still center nicely on a Figure 11 or 12 target.

LRMOA Sightrons sit on all my LR and FTR rifles. The reticle works superbly in the field and on paper targets.

At LR on paper, you shoot at high mag. The SFP reticle subtends very little.

It works...

im going to be buying a sightron 10-50 here before spring and was looking at the lrtd reticle .What are your opinions on it for
f/tr out to 1000yards? I have weaver t36 i use for bench with the target dot and have looked through a couple of td sightrons and liked them.

Thanks

I sell all of them so customers obviously find the various reticles to their liking. I had the FCH when shooting open but went to the LRMOA when I went to FTR.

Do you like to dial or hold off?

how much wind do you have - max/min in a match day? In a relay?

How fast and how aggressive are the switches?

How far do you compete at?

This is not a right or wrong choice. Reticles are a personal tool to fit shooting style and conditions.

I shoot in areas where winds can be huge with big let offs and switches. Dialing takes too long and I find, I can get lost. I use the reticle in a similar way shooters plot their shots. Allows me to see the average windage needed and center my group very fast.

Let's me make big windage changes with far less stress and fuss. Ideally, you want to shoot with both reticles and see what suits your needs better.

ill be shooting out to 1000yds . On my bench gun i never hold off i only dial. as for the wind i havent really shot any of the long range ones around here yet. the one i did shoot at stayed pretty steady.

So put your weaver on your FTR rifle and go shoot. If it works, great. If it doesn't, now you know.

at 1000yds, see how much drift you will see for every 1 to 2 MPH. That will help you understand how much you are going to dance around the target.

I know palma shooters who have no issue twirling those knobs back and forth. Not something I want to do so....

No right, no wrong.... just what you like and only you can answer that question.

Happy shooting.
