The Availability of Reloading Components.. up to and beyond January 20th, 2017.....??

It is certainly not hard to re-label those empty 8lb canisters and refill them. I have used plastic tobacco cans for years. A large one holds 6lbs or so, each.

I called the 2 biggest powder distributors in Canada looking for 8 lb jugs of several powders.
I was told by both not to expect much of the powders I'm looking for this year.
Consequently I've been stocking up on 1lb canisters at a higher cost per pound but at least I'm finding some.

I'm pretty much at my indoor storage limit.
That is not how I store my powder.
I was taking inventory.

Very well done Sir hoardes alot.
The only thing I do differently is date the lids but if you buy it all together I guess that's not really needed.
Didn't they just increase the storage limits?
I'll try to snap a pic of my hoarded powder supply and put it up here tomorrow, maybe try to put the bullet supply and primers in the picture as well. :D

Spawn-Inc, you're just getting started buddy ;) that's not hoarding... yet.

That's not hoarding.
If you read my last post you would have seen that this is barely enough for me to complete my year.
The powder limits have been raised to 25kg and loaded ammo is still 225kg.

I have 800 .308 cases to anneal and load this week.
6,000 .223 to load as soon as I can find another 10.5lbs of XBR.

As I wrote in an earlier post in this thread different people spend their money in different ways wether it be drinking or smoking or whatever else.

I was raised by immigrant parents who grew up in WW2 Europe.
Making sure they had enough of everything was the way I grew up.
If laundry detergent was on special my mother bought her limit.
If toilet paper was on special she also bought her limit.

I also see people in supermarkets buying boneless skinless chicken breast for $18.00/kg when they can buy the whole chicken for $4.40/kg and cut out the breasts themselves.
I'm glad I was raised the way I was because in the event of a catastrophic event I won't be the one standing in line because I can't find what I need to survive and that includes ammo.

Bullets (bulk for 45/70, 45auto, 10mm, 9mm, and a box of 300gr lead and 340gr gas check lead that were for my 45LC loads but I no longer have that revolver so I'll probably be selling those soon.

Darn, forgot to take a pic of the primer drawer. probably around 10000 primers of various types.
I also just placed an order through Higgonson Powders and have around 12 pounds coming from them for a couple of the harder to find powders I'm low on or out of.

Neat - berdan primers. Don't see many N. American reloaders playing with those.

Canada ammo has them, want to try and reload 7.5x55 gp11 brass but they are really meant for 7.62x39mm. i test fired 10 of them and they all went off even though they seat really deep, i'm just not sure they will properly ignite ball powders properly.

:evil::stirthepot2:
I like to stir.

Keep in mind I didn't buy all this at once, a pound here a pound or 5 there, couple hundred bullets on Monday and 500 on Thursday.
I just need more time to do load development and then time to sit at the bench loading.

I'm not gonna post pics of my vault, sorry guys..........let's just say I have enough to feed my 130 rifles and handguns for some time...........oh ya and I smoke, drink too much good red wine and buy all the powder, primers, brass and bullets I want, when I want. Hell if we're gonna gloat let's do it right. I also hunt wherever I want, for what ever I want, when ever I want. I figure I worked too hard for too many years to deny myself anything at this point..........It's my turn to enjoy, dammit...............

PS I just spent 2 hrs in WSS Calgary Mon and walked out with out a single bag..............very dismal indeed !!!! Looked at a M70 Ftrwt in 325 WSM, but it had the plainest piece of wood I've ever seen on a Ftrwt, so I passed. Besides they had no brass, powder or bullets for it so why bother........

Sure, best of the best, but you didn't mention the scotch?
You can't tell good hunting stories without a 12 year old single malt.

Lol!

I have been buying powders periodically for quite some time. I like having nearly all burn rates available. Its great for load testing/development.

Bit by bit, powder by powder, I have no more needs for an extended period of time.

I see nothing wrong with having options.

Like a chef with all his spices, I have all kinds of "ingredients" for my recipies.

I do hope that powder and all reloading supplies level out soon!

Getting back to availability of reloading components, lets look at powders......Alliant has their RL-17 manufactured in Switzerland....while RL-15 is turned out in Sweden.....I don't see either of these or their bretheren on any store shelves in recent times.....and don't expect to for a long long time........Hodgdon makes their stuff---both H and IMR's in eastern Canada.....and I do find that on the shelf in the form of Varget, IMR4064, and BL-C2.....(Cabelas Winnipeg)...

I guess if we have to live without Alliant powders, there is always plan B.....
