My very first KA-BOOM

Anyways there is an update.

I have sent the pistol back to Vault. They have been very helpful in the matter and will let me know what Kel Tec has to say to this.

There have been cases reported in the States about barrel rupture but none in Canada till now, lol.

A bit more time wil tell.

Good luck! Glad you are unscathed.

How did the 5th shot sound? Wonder if you did have a squib strong enuff to cycle on the 5th. If not, that barrel does look pretty weak for .22LR never mind WMR. Glad you ok okay and well enuff to share. I will think twice before buying keltec now.

It's busy at work and I'm too lazy to read through 9 pages of comments but thought I'd point this out...

***UPDATE ON POST #38***

This is what I was shooting:

I see it recommends the 30Gr CCI Maxi-Mag JHP +V and you were shooting the 40Gr... maybe the 25% greater mass was an issue?

looking at the pic of the box, there is the big V in the middle, assume that is the +V, I don't see a + anywhere and not too familiar with the CCI line of ammo, I just saw the difference in grain weights, I do see that Maxi Mag 40 grain listed

and that there is 50gr ammo listed as well, so the weight is not an issue.

That looks like ####ty metal to me! notice how porous it looks. the burns in the brass look normal, so it doesn't look like an over charge... I would certainly submit that t kel tek and ask them WTF.

Another update. Talked to Vault and they were very sympathetic and told me not to worry (we will see) but i have already sent them the pistol back and will wait to see what they say.
just saw a email direct from kel tec and they said they are very sorry about this but am glad I was not hurt. Then told me I have to deal with Vault for this matter.

Good communication on both sides so that does please me greatly. I just have to wait tho.

I'll keep everyone posted.

The exact same thing happened to me yesterday only I was using Winchester Super X.

The chamber gave out, plain and simple metallurgical flaw in the barrel manufacturing.

Luckily I was not hurt. I will read the whole thread later, and figure out what I'm going to do about it.

Was there a resolution you came to with Vault? Did you get your gun back?

Bfiles - what happened with this? Did they get you a new barrel/pistol?

Kel tech? you mean Khyder Pass USA :p

That really sucks and you used the recommended ammo too :( Well maybe Santa will bring you a really nice Ruger MkII target :)

My results with Vault were poor on a pistol problem. They said because I used re-loaded ammo, the warranty was void.

First, the warranty does not say that reloaded ammo voids the warranty.

Second, the complaint was fail to fire, probably due to an off center firing pin strike.

I contacted the manufacture directly and they sent me some replacement parts.

Vault has a poor customer attitude.

I agree its poor, but it must be a huge inconvenience operating in another country when your manufacturer doesn't really even want or have the capacity to test the export market.
