Anyone can shoot multigun in fair weather but can you handle the unique challenges of a Canadian winter 2gun match???

Galt3Gun is hosting an outdoor 2-gun(Rifle and Handgun) match on Saturday February 8, 2014 at the Galt Sportsmens Club.

Due to the layout of our range we have no choice but to cap the number of shooters at 18 (3 squads of 6) and the squads will be filled on a first-come-first-served basis. This notice was sent out those on our mailing list before posting here so unfortunately there are only a few spots left.

Squad times are as follows: Squad 1 at 9am, Squad 2 at 11:30am, Squad 3 at 2pm. To secure your spot, please email us at galt3gun@rogers.com with your squad request and division. Match fee is $50 and because we will be running the match rain or shine or otherwise, match fees are NON-REFUNDABLE. Prepayment is required via EMT to galt3gun@rogers.com to secure a spot (please use password: galtmatch).

You will be shooting for approximately 2 hours so you don't have to worry about freezing out there all day - the RO's and other volunteers, well that is another story! Our clubhouse is heated and will be open for you and your friends or family to keep warm.

Divisions, rules, and scoring can be found here: http://www.galtsportsmensclub.com/Galt3Gun/Rules.php . Holster qualification is required. If you are new to multigun events and are unsure about coming out, don't worry, just let us know and we will make sure you have a great time. As always, ABSOLUTELY NO STEEL CORE AMMO. Results will be recorded using Practiscore and will be posted/emailed within 24hrs of the match.

Round counts and further details will be emailed to participants at a later date. If anyone requires an invitation as per the conditions of their ATT, please let me know and I will see that one is emailed to you. Any other questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

So harden the hell up and see how you and your gear perform in Canada's wintery splendor! I can't make any promises about the weather, but I can promise you that the guys at Galt3gun will do their very best to put on a memorable match for each and every shooter.

I also wanted to mention that Urban Tactical in Brantford is donating some swag for us to give away. You have to be present for the walk-thru 15 minutes prior to your squad time in order to be entered into the prize draws!

Thanks Urban Tactical!

I'm interested in getting into this sorta stuff. Where can i go to get my holster qualification? I keep seeing it posted for all the events but have no idea where to start.

What range do you shoot at?

Most clubs have a time-slot every week where "action shooting" takes place.

Show up during this time-slot, and talk to the guys who are doing it.

They will show you how to draw from a holster, without shooting yourself in the foot.
Then they'll show you how to run around with a gun, without pointing it at anybody.

Basically once you've shown that you can do these two things, they will give you a card that allows you to compete in matches.

I talked to the handgun guy at the club back in the summer and we don't offer one. Boils down to you need a black badge at our club. I signed up to do that on ipsic website but haven't heard anything from them. Twin city rifle club is the where I'm a member.

IPSC Black Badge will work just fine. You'll be able to shoot in any event you want, once you have it.

Make sure you get in on the next available course.

And make sure you pick a bunch of cities for notification, not just one. Anything within comfortable driving distance. Worth getting a motel room btw. I was lucky to have a buddy within 15min drive of the range where I was taking mine, so I just crashed at his place. Considering my shooting skills at the start of the weekend, it was a good idea not to do the 1+hr each way commute. Also note that most clubs that do IPSC are outdoors and nobody's crazy enough to do a BB weekend in this weather, so you might have to wait until spring and fight off hordes of fellow prospects. As soon as you get that e-mail from Kent, reply to it. Good luck! IPSC is a blast and a great way to develop handgun skills for multigun like 2gun, 3gun or CQB.

Match is full but there is a waiting list so if you want on it, let me know at galt3gun@rogers.com

Thanks to everyone who signed up. In the spirit of the crazy winter we've been having in SW Ontario we have dubbed the match, The Arctic Apocalypse! Should be interesting!

It's a pity that the AK-47 is banned in Canada.

It might be the only rifle designed to compete in such a match.

Less than 2 weeks to go till the match - I'm guessing we will still have some white stuff to contend with by then. Select Shooting Supplies http://selectshootingsupplies.com has also offered to provide some prizes for the shooters!

For those needing an invite, please go here http://www.galtsportsmensclub.com/Galt3Gun/G3G Match Invite FEB 8th.pdf and print off a copy. Final email to participants with round counts and last minute details will go out to competitors next week.

February is supposed to be the worst month for weather this year as per the experts. :D Should separate the men from the mice. Call me crazy but I am really looking forward to this.

Doing manly things while whimpering like a mouse... "It's too cold to keep doing this crap!" <bang bang bang bang bang> "I got snow in my SHOE!" <bang bang bang bang bang> "FUK THIS" <bang bang bang bang bang>
