Glock 17 gen 4 or Girsan Yavuz 16

Sorry, to easy, can't do it. I'm sure you mean well and are just trying to give the OP the most accurate info possible, but unless you have shot a Girsan, you really cannot give an accurate, "unbiased" opinion. Would you want your decision on a car to be based on a review written by someone who never drove that car. Would you want to spend your hard earned money eating at a Chinese restaurant based on a review written by someone who never at there, but gave it a bad review because he was prejudice against Chinese. Nothing wrong with offering your opinion, but you cannot formulate a proper opinion with only half of the equation. You cannot compare an apple with an orange if you have only tried the apple, and pick the apple because you hate the sunshine state. Sorry, that was the best analogy I could come up with.

Well the thing is I put at least 1k through a real 92 and I didn't like that for several reasons. I would pick the plastic gun over the real 92. Since the turkish COPY is a complex CNC machined clone it would stand to reason that I wouldn't like the half priced copy since I don't like the full priced 92. Kinda like if you don't like real fresh squeezed orange juice you're not going to like the cheap made from concentrate type either.

Regarding Chinese 9mm copies here is the thread I posted.

A friend of mine wants to get into shooting and since in have lots of 9mm i told him all he needs is a gun. He doesn't like glocks so I can't loan him one of those. Anyways I know nothing about chinese copies but they seem popular on here so I though I would ask and see which one is "best". He wants to do his black badge with this and then maybe try ipsc. Thanks

So no there are no cheap 9mm clones in my closet.

Ok dude, you've made your point. I throw in the towel. Geez. I will even go as far as saying that if I could AFFORD it, I would buy the REAL thing, not the CHEAP CLONE OR COPY. Your like a dog with a bone on this copy thing, arn't you. But tell the truth, you'd probably prefer fake DDD cups over the original little A cups. Kristine.

ultimately it comes down to which one feels right in your hands, and if you like the 92's controls... I prefer the glock for its simplicity, its a great gun to take to the range when you bring friends to shoot because its real easy to use. theres no bull####, load the round and pull the trigger. the 92's trigger is much different from the glock, both have their pros and cons. I would suggest just spending the extra little bit of money and going for a real italian made 92 over the grisan. I see slightly used 92's on the EE for $550 all the time.

The Girsan has pretty thin factory grips, even with the finger grooves mine feel smaller then a real deal Beretta.
Personally I would not buy used Beretta... There are wear items on these that should be replaced periodically. I'd rather buy new and know the round count.

Ok, I can see the logic in that, but dude, we are not talking about Jerichos or Bul's or Uzi's, because Jerusalem is in Israel, or Palestine, depending on who you ask, they have been fighting about it for awhile, and the Girsan is from Turkey, the capital of which is Ankara.

LOL!.....yes, I know where Turkey is....just trying to make a point. Glock stuff is everywhere, the guns are easy to service, easy to find and easy to sell. There is something to be said for steel, but good steel....popular steel.

There is no shortage of parts for these....US issued the Beretta 92FS and M9 for a couple decades now, all 92 parts fit and are easy to find....mags are steel and cheaper then Glock mags as well. If I was shooting IPSC Glock would be my pick....but just for a casual plinker definitely the Girsan.

Breast size now? Really? Well since I don't like cheap copies, clones or fakes it would stand to reason I am not into fake DDD breasts, would it not?

Op bought both. In hope he keeps track of failures and rounds fired and reports on it. Reliability matters most to me. To others its chrome and neon green grips.

So a molded plastic & stamped steel Glock... that the manufacturer can produce for less then $100 US retails for $600 here is the cats ass, but a complex fully CNC machined pistol made in Turkey that takes a lot of skill to manufacture and retails for $450 here is a total piece of #### just cuz its made in Turkey?
You know that Turkey has been a member of NATO since 1952.....guess when Austria joined up?

Austria was precluded by treaty from joining Nato whilst the USSR still existed as terms for their not being occupied post war as was most of her former Empire (Czechoslovakia etc.)

I own a Girsan matte black. Had it a year. Zero failures. Good solid 92 clone. I like the pistol. My only issue is the definite lack of aftermarket support for these. Luckily most Beretta parts will fit, except the sights for instance....I had to shave the adj. rear sights to fit the dovetail on the slide to make it fit. Standard Beretta 92 mags work fine which is a nice bonus...

I have owned a Glock 17 Gen 4. It WAS my first pistol. I found I did not like the trigger in spite of mods. It is not a target pistol in my opinion, but as with everything else, everyone has their opinion. Though, I have to admit, the advantages of a Glock: top dog as far as cheap aftermarket parts, availability of said parts, easy to work on yourself, uber reliable as well as feed and shoot anything you feed it. I just never liked shooting it. My buddy owns it now, he loves it.

The Girsan was #### on solely for being made in Turkey.I was just trying to point out that ain't a valid reason. The quality of these and the manufacturing tolerances are on par with any other big name maker IMHO.

Not uncommon to have to file dovetail on sight to fit to any make of gun, original or copy.

Hitzy, were wasting our time on them. We like our Girsans and that is all that matters. I say we just agree to disagree and leave it at that. A guy I know is bringing his 92 to the club and we are going to compare barrels. If the Beretta barrel fits, and I have my doubts about the lock block being the same, I am thinking about an EFK Fire Dragon ported barrel.

I owned one, very nice gun especially for the price.

You will have to replace the barrel and locking block together....newer Beretta's have a slightly different pin on the barrel and channel on the locking blocks.
Brownell's sell the upgrade kit as well http://www.brownells.com/handgun-parts/action-parts/locking-parts/locking-blocks/locking-block-upgrade-92fs-block-pin-plunger--prod55439.aspx

Well then you are fortunate enough to have a better job then I do. Not everybody drives Cadillacs and Lincolns either, but my 13 year old Chrysler still gets me there, just like my Girsan gets them down range just the same as a Sig.

You go, +1 on you. Too many think more money means better. We can only shoot paper, so reliability is more important than looks. Girsan and Norks go bang every time.
