Looking for advice on cleaning products that only remove carbon from the barrel, and not copper solvents. Everything I seem to come across refers to removing copper, but nothing that specifically says carbon only. Point me in the right direction!

I really like the KG series of products. If it's good enough for Accuracy International to list it in their armorers manual, it's good enough for me.

JB Bore cleaning paste is an oldie that still works well. Tight patch and short stroke through the carbon ring... and JB Bore Cleaning Paste will not harm a rifle bore.

I use mercury power tune. It's the same as GM top engine cleaner. And bore tech carbon remover. They both have there place.

I too use Mercury Quicksilver.. very much like brake cleaner. Both do the same, but I find Mercury Q to be a little better...

What I do is run a couple wet Quicksilver patches through, then dry patch, then one or two more (usually clean by three) THEN will put a brake cleaner patch thru to get rid of the Quicksilver that might be left as a film it's a little more of a degreaser/lubricator than brake-clean is Brake Cleaner is simply just a degreaser that dries clean & fast (best thing about it*) So yah, after that patch of brake-clean, dry patch right behind-- then one patch with a few dabs of oil, DONE.

It works very good for me, I've tried everything. Hoppes, bore-scrubber, all the rest just sits on the shelf since I switched. And one-can of Brake Clean/Mercury Quicksilver goes a longgg ways.. plus is in spray cans* Easier to use than a lousey open-top Hoppes (for example)

Try the stuff, you'll be impressed

I have used Remington Borebright in my rim fires, shot guns and my four 700,s let it soak for 15secs every two hundred rounds (centre fire) or so (or if it will sit for a while) and dry patch until done, works for me, can has lasted me two years.
