Assuming this is a shotgun-
Make sure that the chamber is clean, free of any grime and residue. If this does not help, take the extractor/ejector mechanism apart and inspect it. Often , there is a buildup of crud that prevents ejection or a burr on one of the pieces. Failing that, it may be an extractor only set up.
If it is a break action rifle, it most likely is an extract only.
there is no problem with my rifle, the problem is with me, I want a ejector, once I pull the trigger I want to reload the rifle asap, if I have to take my gloves off to reload, the rifle will going up for sale
H&R went from an ejector on their rifles to an extractor because they were having issues with ejectors breaking on their centrefire rifle models. Most H&R rifle owners convert them from the ejector models to extractors for this reason. Only the Shotguns and Rimfires still use an ejector. Western Gun Parts may still carry and ejector for your gun, check with them.
well if a ejector may break in my 270 I will leave it be and sell it. I can barely take out a new round here in the house where it's nice and warm, I can just think of what kind of pain in the ass that would to remove a spent casing in -15 weather
Had an ejector model in a 25-06 and would never have another. Reason why is if there is any resistance meaning sticky case your gonna need a ram rod to help it out. Now I have an ejector model in a H&R in 450 marlin and it seems fine. Throws those loaded cases with 350 gr slugs over your shoulder. Anything I had read on them said that the ejector models worked a lot better on the straight wall rimmed cartridge cases than with the rimless bottle neck ones. I believe H&R had lots of complaints about the sticking cases that's why they went away from them. With that all said I now have a new extractor model in 25-06 and it pulls them out without fail.
