9.3x62 'plans' in motion

Well this is quickly turning into "Silly Saturday", ain't it..............LOL What with all this sharp wit and humor, it would seem that "Vegas" was a popular destination last night............;):D

There's only so much Cooey 64 stripp'n and sand'n and oil'n and search'n for tenderyumyum's chit a guy kan handle.
So silly saterday it iz.

Well, started on the next phase of the plan today. Good check, clean-up and tighten check in preparation for a 1st outing. This was my,;) half time show today:p. Clean-up and check-up was completed, then I started on mounting the scope. Slight snag:( as the Weaver Pivot mounts I had slated for the job proved to be too low so the bolt can't cycle. I took bases & rings off of my Husqvarna 358NM as initially I had planned to change over to Pivot mounts on that anyway and now was a good a time as any. The Weaver rings and #46 & #55 bases from the 358NM were a little higher, but still too low on the Zastava. I'll have to see if I can locate some slightly higher base set-up. In the meantime, I'll crank up some ammo and do a trial and adjustment using the open sights. Some sighting in to do now on the 358NM as well.

Johnn,
The Weaver bases fitting the Zastava are #46 front and #45 rear. The #55 (rear) is way too low to match the M/98 front ring.

Johnn - You said you are planning on mounting a Leupold 2-7x33? I'm using 55 and 20a bases and medium Weaver extension rings and the same Leupold 2-7x33. I did not try the 45&46 bases. Standard rings will not allow for any adjustment forward or back with your scope.

The scope I have waiting on the sidelines that I planned on using is one that was given to me by my Daughter & Son In Law a while ago. A 3x9 Bushnell Elite 3200. Just called a friend locally that does a bit of gunsmithing and he has a # 45 that Baribal suggested. Thinking back to when I was planning on getting the Zastava, I:redface: vaguely recall being forewarned of a couple of issues I might run into with it. One was that I may find the height of the comb of the stock to be too high for comfortable use of the open sights. The second delt with a slight difference in the configuration or shape of the bolt handle and resulting in the probable interference with a low mounted scope. I'll have to listen a little closer in future:redface:.

Johnn, with the 45/46 bases and an old set of low Weaver rings the eyepiece of my Leupold clears the bolt handle with only a little to spare. If I try the extra-low rings, I start to get contact. I think the eyepiece of the Bushnell is a bit larger than the Leupold, so YMMV, but I think it would still work.
