Forget the case gauges and get the Hornady cartridge case headspace gauge, and you will only need to buy "ONE" gauge for all calibers.
Wait.. I have one of those Hornady case guages. I thought I could only use them for determining how much to bump back the shoulder for ideal fit into my chamber. Are you telling me the Lyman go/no-go gauge I have for .223 and the one I just ordered for .308 are useless?

A Wilson or other of the same type case gauges just measure from the shoulder to the base of the case, these type gauges have steps cut into the top for min and max case length. These type gauges do not check body diameter and only measure cartridge headspace length, the Hornady gauge measures the same dimensions but will give you a dial or digital reading. I'm not telling you the Lyman gauge is worthless, BUT when you have chronologically gifted eyesight the dial or digital reading is easier to "SEE" and a more accurate gauge.
