FN AR-15 to be sold to public

But this has nothing in common with fn contracted m16s.

Exactly. The detail that most people have been ignoring is that FN does not have, and never has had, the right to use the Colt TDP to produce AR-15s for their own sales. They have used the US governments rights to the TDP to produce rifles for the US government, but they can't use that data for any other purpose. So to produce this line of AR-15s FN had to "forget" everything they knew about the design and go out and acquire drawings and materials the same way all the other non-milspec producers do. The end result is the same as all the other non-milspec producers' rifles. The only difference is they will sell a bunch of them to people who think that FN "holds the contract".

Another tidbit is that I don't think there has been a contract awarded for either the M16 or M4 in almost 5 years. So there is no company that has "the contract".

Can we at least wait until someone has one to shoot before we start saying these things?

No. It going bang or how it "feels" (whatever that means) has nothing to do with how crappy this thing was built. They literally followed NONE of the minimum specs necessary to build an AR properly.

Oh really? Care to elaborate? (If you refer to the AR15 "chart" I will :slap: you. Well over half of the things on that chart mean nothing)

No, I don't.

Everything you need to know is already out there and has already been said. I'm tired of enlightening role.

These don't have CHF barrels. The guy I talked to said that is going to be an option down the road, but of course the rifle is going to have a higher price point too. They will also be adding the FN logo to the left side of the receiver. Right now there is nothing there. It's just blank.

I've seen lots of speculation, and the specs that they have released are pretty much in line with other AR's in the same price point (Chrome lined 1 in 7 twist, 5.56 chamber, yadda, yadda, yadda). As I said, let's wait until they release it before we start tearing it down. Just the specs don't give you the whole story, QC and care in manufacturing are just as important, and we know nothing of those two things right now.

4140 button rifled barrel, the bolt is not mpi or hp tested. I don't know if the carrier is properly staked, looking at the price point, very possible it's not, but since I don't know I won't comment on it. We don't know if it uses a comm or mil spec buffer tube. and compared to $1150 in us price gets you damn close to a bcm for that money, so no it is not price competitive. Core15s and S&W m&p sports are around 850-900 for similar spec rifles.

Remember, that $1150 is MSRP... Street price is always lower in the states.

You must admit it's amusing to see people judge a product before its released. All I'm saying is let's let it come out first. (FYI I've seen lots of issues with the M&P 15 Sports, I wouldn't buy one).
