So My recently acquired M&P has preformed flawlessly for the first 600 rounds. Today at the range I had 4 random misfires.
The first time it happened there was a very week primer strike off center, fired a mag or 2 more with no issues, then it happened again, this time with no primer strike at all. I fired off a few more mags flawlessly then it happened again with no primer strike, that happened 2 more times randomly. The last 2 mags went flawlessly again. All with very clear, good primer strikes.

On the bright side I know I don't have a flinch now lol.

Any idea what's going on here?

Check your striker channel. It could be that a piece of debris is blocking the hole in the breach face.

Also, when cleaning your gun, do not out any solvent or lubricant in the striker channel as it may cause (wait for it) light primer strikes and misfires.

Hope this helps you.

I tore it down and cleaned out the striker channel real well and the firing pin. Wasn't gritty or anything in there and nothing was blocking the breach face. So we'll see if it helped. Thanks

i had issues with my buddies m&p 40 same problem, after about 1000 rounds of 40 caliber lead reloads from wolf. I tore down the upper and the striker channel was completely gummed up. It ran like a champ after it was cleaned. Keep the firing pin channel dry and it should help with dirt accumulation

Unfortunately it happened again. 3/75 shots with no primer strikes and a very weak sounding click.
The striker channel is clean and dry with no obstructions.
The primer strikes I am getting are hard and deep.
Any additional ideas? this pistol has

Seems like theres a engagement problem between the trigger bar/ sear/ striker , detail strip the pistol and check all these areas if there would be damage of somekind

hope this helps :(

The timing sounds like it's out - the trigger bar has to release the striker block just before it releases the striker. If the 'ramp' has been adjusted (or it's simply misadjusted), it can release the striker before the FP block is fully released - causing issues with ignition. Any mods to the trigger group? Pics of the trigger bar, ramp & sear, striker and the FPB (in the slide) would be helpful.

Maybe this will help in the diagnostic. I'll get a weak click when pulling the trigger, then I can let off the trigger and let it reset as you normally would after taking a shot and it seems to fire the second time every time. I don't have to rack the slide again, just let the trigger reset and bang Bob's your uncle.
It's good to know I don't have a flinch though lol.

My M&P 9C I've had that issue before if I do not let the trigger out all the way to reset (it's got a long reset) -- I'm going to work on the sear to shorten the reset this weekend.

Weird -- are you sure your letting the trigger out to reset?

Ya I'm sure, it a 2013 model so I can feel the reset pretty clearly. I also feel like if I didn't let the trigger reset initially I wouldn't be hearing the weak click sound. Then I let off and let it reset again, boom goes the dynamite. Very odd.
any other thoughts anyone.

You mentioned that the primer strike was weak and off center. If it doesn't always hit off center (many do), that could be an indication of the slide not being 100% in battery. Check that the barrel is all the way up into the locking lugs with the slide closed.

The M&P is not a DOUBLE ACTION pistol -- if your fired once it will not fire again (without being re-cocked), so you getting a false reset if your able to fire it after.

Here's an example of what happens,
I fire the first shot,Bang. Fire the second shot, Bang. Pull trigger for third shot, weak click, let off trigger, feel trigger "reset", pull trigger again, Bang. no racking of the slide required for some reason.
