NOE moulds.... How good are they.

I am thinking of ordering Some new moulds and just curious how good they truly are. Like how durable are they. How long before you drop good boolits. Etc. how good are they compared to rcbs and Lyman moulds? The reason I am asking is because I really like the steel mould blocks from rcbs and Lyman. And kinda worries about the lifespan of an NOE mould as I have a ton of warped and defective lee moulds. Thank you.
 
Ok. Because I am talking pretty high volumes. For reference I have made 2700 boolits in the past month with my rcbs. As I sell them on the EE. I am in the shed right now using my rcbs and I have made half a fifty cal ammo can in the past 4 hours.
 
VERY GOOD! i own 4 NOE molds and a few mihec (mountain molds) and like them alot, well worth the $100 price tag. i should mention i started with Lee molds and laughed at all those idiots paying $100+ for molds, but have been converted after ordering a mold for my 500mag. that being said i still use lee and will use them especially with the new mold design they changed to.

any mold should be casting good bullets within the first or second pour if they are preheated properly. i've only ever casted with aluminum or brass molds, but have read casting with steel is a different. so if your used to steel it may take a few tries to get it right.

i can't really speak to mold life, but there is a reason NOE and mihec molds are the 2 usual companies for group buys on cast boolits. there is also accurate molds and a new company called HM2 which has done a few group buys on cast boolits.

don't hesitate to order for NOE, you won't be disappointed.
 
Ok great to know. I'll be putting a order through tomorrow. As all the reviews I have seen says the same. Just wanted to double check with you guys. I'll be ordering the 405 gr hp/fp 45-70 mould. The 45 acp 230 gr hp/fp mould. and l and gonna order the 165 gr hp/fp 30-30 mould as well. Thanks guys.
 
post some pictures of the bullets in the cast bullet #### thread! i just started casting some 50 cal spire points right now with an NOE mold.

what casting pot do you use?
 
Yeah I'll be posting pictures of them for sure. Keep an eye open for them in the EE as well. ;) I always mass produce so I use a Coleman stove with a cast iron crock pot. Pretty easy to keep a steady temp with it. Also I do have a small lee 10 pound pot I haven't even used yet. :)

well good on you then, i couldn't imagine ladle pouring on mass unless i had a 100 cavity mold...

All my 325 grain and up molds I ladle cast. I find I get better mold fill out and a lot less rejects. Propane turkey burner and a cast iron Dutch oven for the big ones, and a Lee bottom pour for the small guys. If I go for a marathon casting session with multiple cavity molds I will melt my lead on the propane burner and top up my bottom pour with it.

once i get the molds hot, i don't have major problems filling my 700gr mold, even with the HP pins using a lee 20lb pot. i did drill the spout on my 10lb pot bigger though for better fill out.
 
Picked up the NOE 311299 a couple weeks ago. Haven't had much casting time but it works beautifully. Once up to temp it casts all four bullets at a nice .3125 with just straight wheelweight. There was one minor burr on the sprue plate but I stoned that off before casting. Other than that the machining and finish is top notch, it's almost a shame to put them on Lee handles.
 
Funny, I was just looking at the NOE website yesterday, and this thread springs up.

I may get a couple once my "gun fund" gets above zero again...

Their 250 grain, .338 mag bullets look astounding. $100 for a five cavity, 250 grain 338 mag mold is a very good deal, IMO.
 
I have one on the way. Should be here next week with any luck at all. The communication from NOE has been very good. They shipped as fast as it can be done. Outstanding. Have one NOE already and that inspired me to get another.
 
Yeah I sent the order through for 2 moulds. The 45-70 405gr hp/fp and the 45acp 230gr hp/fp. Next pay day I am ordering 2 more. The 198 gr 308 cal spire point and a 135 gr 9mm hp/fp mould. Hope they get the 308 165gr hp/fp in soon I want it for my 30-30. ;)
