Is Cowboy Action addictive?

Well I have been on the other end, try being a white guy working for a company being run by a minority racial group that figures that the Canadian government still represses them. Anyways, the majority of the shooters that take part in Cowboy action are mature men and women in the 40-80 age group. One of the nicest guys I have ever met shooting Cowboy action, is a Filipino, I believe from Calgary. He used to go by the name "Buster Hymen for a while, but for some reason the ladies didn't like it. In Southern Saskatchewan there is a gentleman from the Sudan that shoots when he can fit it into his schedule. If you enter a sport expecting the worst, don't worry it will happen. Enter with a positive attitude and you might be very surprised.

Thanks!

To Superlative:
You're from Australia, so you may not be familiar with the Old American (or Canadian) West. But there were lots of non-white Cowboys then, just as there is today. So you met one idiot; we all have. I am white, my grandson is black. But I am quite pleased to say that he would be welcome into the "Posse" I belong to, should he finally find time to get involved. My son is involved, and it would be nice to have another "young fella" around, if anything to help get the targets back and forth!
Give it a try, you won't look back. The key is to accept "the spirit of the game", and have lots of fun!
Maybe watch "Hell on Wheels" on AMC; Common does a great job of playing Elam.

and yes, cowboy era guns are addictive, win 94, win 92 trapper, marlin cowboy 24", marlin guidegun, marlin 336, colt SSA., rossi 92.

Cant wait to get a falling block or rolling block or trap door... or all three.

1st off yes it is a rossi...i added the big loop when they were available...the rifle in question is the one i sold garand and i want it back...hehehehehe
2nd off buster H is a really close friend of mine and you will never find a bigger nut job than him...garand can atest to that fact. also we had a friend of our's come up from the teritories for a vacation and he wanted to try the CAS thing...because that government did it's thing like Britian...had a hoot...so drop the rasist card...pick up your guns and come out with my wife and i ... i will garentee you will have the most fun you have ever had with your boots on ....and as for the people...with no disrespect intended...you will never find a better bunch...if you don't believe me just ask Garand...i have known him for years and i still put up with him....HAHA

You choose your nickname, not the other participants. It is your choice.
Plus, any improper behavior or comment from a participant are ground for a match disqualification.
Cowboy action shooters are depicted as a welcoming bunch of people. Of course, there are #######s everywhere...
I really think you should give it a try.

My personal experience:
IPSC: after being on the range watching a IPSC match for 2 hours, one participant said "hi".
Cowboy action: after 2 minutes, someone introduced me to the rules, after 15 minutes i was helping out and after 2 hours, i was on the line, with firearms and ammunition supplied by participants.

And that there is one of the reasons Cowboy Action Shooting is a growing sport! Good folks having good fun, and willing to help, and share with others. I believe the sport was started by some former IPSC shooters...
