i have an itch to buy a missing piece to my collection. see tons of really nice russian SKS's. thought i'd go to the EE and grab a used one. i see them from 200-250$ used, low rounds, hardly fired. lots of firm 250$.

what makes these guns so special. i see them all over from dealers, in stock 169-200$ will i become retarded if i buy one, or do they actually go up in value the more people that own them?

i hab to PM one guy that was firm on $250, he explained to me they are sold out everywhere and you can only get shtbeat guns now.

Sold out everywhere? I think that person is trying to push a sale lol I see them at Canadian tires everywhere, My small town included! lol Canada Ammo just had a deal for a crate of ammo and an SKS for like 349$ I believe it was, although they sold fast lol

I picked one up for 150$ off the EE, works awesome, just dont rush and a good deal will come along.

And no, unless someone puts a new stock on it I dont understand how people think they will get 250$ for a gun that is 160-220$ from a deal lol

You and I are on the same page

I own two and now can't tie my shoes ;)

There are lots around... you're in Burnaby... Lever arms downtown puts them on sale regularly for $169, $199 regular... I got one on xmas sale at International in Surrey for $149... have to say the one I got from Lever was much nicer and I got to hand pick it.

As for the EE, I can't say... some might be very good condition or maybe a bit more rare like earlier ones... but any average one shouldn't be more than $200 IMHO

Get one local... you'll love it, ammo is dirt cheap especially by the crate from Canammo or Budget

oh and you can do cool things to them like this...

Total cost was... $149 for the SKS , $130 for the kit (wanstalls) & $35 for the magazine, also wanstalls.... so $314 before taxes for a nice black rifle... :D

Certain vintages will fetch a larger price tag, as well as if it is refurbished or not… also if it was issued or not.

As far as the shooters go, don't pay over 200 as most float around 195 dropping to 149 during sales.
CanAm just had a $350 combo that came with 1400 rounds.

I like the SKS, good cheap fun and cheap ammo. Lets me shoot lots without guilt

I think the only people who go retarded are the ones who don't buy an SKS?? ;)

Nope, I just did the mod tonight... going to go out this weekend maybe....

I stack my SKSs like I stack my silver. I'm only concerned with the average price. My current collection of 11 averages $165 per rifle. That includes five non-refurb 51 Tulas and two unfired ChiCom (/306\ and /316\)

OP, you're in Burnaby. Hit the HACS show next weekend. Corwin should be there and he has some nice non-refurb (I think) Russians. You should be able to walk away with a nice one, with all the fixins, for under $200.

Or you could visit the other tables and pick up one that was beaten to a snot for $429...

I wish CanAm would bring ChiCom rifles to the show every now and again. I'm itching for two more Chinese.

I paid $175 plus shipping for one on the ee. It was a non-refurb. She is a beauty by wouldn't pay much more than that for one. As for buying one already modified... I would do it myself instead, its more fun and you get to choose what mods are done.

I think you should be asking: Does using the EE lower your IQ?

I don't think it does, but it seems to miraculously make your used guns worth more than new ones ;)

Same as anything else, SKS new = 169$, used = 295$ + shipping. 870 new= 400$, 870 used with 100$ "tactical" stock and side saddle = 1300 + shipping

I have seen some ridiculous prices for SKS', especially at auctions. There was an SKS with lazily mounted rail and $30 BSA red dot that went for ~$800..
