Talk me out of a S&W .460

I have 44 mag guns and a 460 and a 500 S&W. In reality the 460 is probably a better choice then the 44 mag if you reload. In the 460 you can shoot either 45 Colt for low recoil and 460 if you want the real thing. The 454 is not a practical choice and I see no real use for it, but of course if you want to you can use it as well.

Now if you do not intend to reload then it is a much more costly venture then a 44 mag. I think for the average person the only real advantage the 460 has for us Canadians is if you want to do long range shooting of some sort or other. Just my two cents worth here.

Make sure that your range permits the calibre. I believe that my local indoor range "maxes out" at either .44 mag or .45. And, like most ranges, there will always be some Dudley-Do-Right that will collect your brass and raise a needless stink...

Talk out? Talk in maybe, if needed. Part gun, part flamethrower. What more need be said?

And that brings up my next question. I've been reading about nasty blast waves hitting the shooter. Also the need for ear plugs and muffs 0.0

Maybe this is too much to shoot on a silhouette course?

I haven't shot my 460 indoors yet, but for outdoors I only wear muffs and that's plenty. When/if I ever shoot it indoors I'll double up with muffs and plugs.
 
my dad picked up a 460 S&W.

i fired 3 round and set it down, i had a instant headache from the concussion wave it threw off.

that gun is INSANE!

but id shoot it again in a heart beat, hahaha!
 
Go S&W500 Magnum. I was shooting out to 200 yards at the range with mine at a 12" steel gong for chits and giggles. Well wasn't I shocked at how I was able to come within a few feet on my first couple shots.
