Just wondering what you folks think about using an ultra sonic cleaner to clean the small parts from my VZ 58?

I wouldn't use the ultrasonic cleaner fluid, just water and maybe soap or ballistol?

Does anyone here clean small rifle parts in an ultrasonic cleaner after shooting corrosive ammo? What do you use for a cleaning solution?

Thanks

quicker than wiping down with a cloth?

Depends how thorough you are ;)

For me, it's way faster. While I'm dumping a kettle of hot water down the barreled-action and wiping down the stock the rest of the metal bits are getting a bath. I find that only 30 minutes is required compared to 1 hour+ "the old fashioned way". Your call. It's not necessary, but it's handy.

I find cleaning the vz58 pretty darn quick already. Might throw a .22 receiver in the sonic cleaner for an experiment.

I'd take everything apart, even the bolt and give it a good scrubbing in hot water. Takes about 15min, but an ultrasonic cleaner would save about 10min each time. I like the idea but don't shoot the sks enough nowadays to care lol
