Bullseye powder loads for .45 ACP

4.7gr Bullseye under a 200gr cast SWC bullet. Nothing is more accurate out of my 45 ACP's (Series 70 Gold Cup, Barsto & Wilson barrels).

4.5 grains under a 200 SWC at oal of 1.250 is my accuracy target load for the last 30 years..with quality lead bullet .. This is 1 inches load at 25 yards. Used it in many .45 always with superb accuracy. If you push your charge over 4.8 grains most bullet will start to lead your barrel.. Some hard cast will tolerate a lttle more powder but i never used over 5 grains with the 200 or 230 grains lead. If i need more speed, i use jacketed bullet.

Play with anywhere from 4-5 grains.

4 might not cycle, but some of my most accurate loads were found when the gun just cycled, with minimal increases to gain reliability.

Soft shooting cast .45 loads are a ton of fun. ;)

Any particular brand and where for the SWC , how about HBWC bullets?

I use two different cast swc .45 caliber bullets. A Saeco 068 (which is a copy of the original Hennsley & Gibbs 68 SWC design). I also use the RCBS .45 201(?) SWC. Of the two, the RCBS is definitely more accurate, but, I will qualify that with the fact, the RCBS were hand cast, for personal competition use, and the Saeco were cast on a commercial machine for resale. As for where, I can't help you, as I no longer cast bullets, either commercially or for personal use. I do still have the RCBS mould though. As for HBWC, I've only used that design in a .38 Special revolver.

A WC bullet will not generally not feed in a 45 Auto. If you're talking about a HB bullet like the Berrys 185 gr. HBRN they feed like a champ but note that Berrys recommends driving the bullets at least 800 fps to maximize accuracy.

5.0 with 230 round nose jacketed from Budget shooters. Shoots the same as Norinco Ammo...just right. Accuracy is great. I was lucky, I picked up 6lbs of bullseye from an elderly fellow that stopped re loading.
