As promised I have taken a few pics of my recently obtained Norinco NP22 and the accompanying Sig Sauer p226 .22 converssion kit.
The slides swap out of the NP22 with total ease and seem to cycle well.
I have not had the opportunity to shoot it so I can't offer an opinion on reliabilty or shootability etc. When I finally get it out to the range I will put a report together. The CGN fellow I bought it off stated that the conversion kit had to be smithed to make it fit properly but I can't see any machine marks, ground metal etc that would indicate what would be necessary. I suggest you seek a qualified gunsmith who has done this job and ask them what needs to be done.

So, here are the pics:
1. The NP22 alongside the conversion kit slide

2. The 2 slides alonside each other

3. The assembled NP22 with the Sig Sauer P226 Conversion

4. The conversion kit stripped down to it components

5. This is what you get with the kit - note that it only comes with 1 mag

The Sig unit does not have a follower in the mag so the slide does not lock open after last shot, or when you rack it back on an empty mag. Otherwise I would have includes a pic from that side. I will order a follower later.

I hope this answers a few of the questions about whether the kit will fit.
Regards,
Glen

I don't see marks from any major milling, It looks do-able thanks for the great pics! Now to sell some toys to buy the kit.......

Did you try it at the range and can you confirm if the .22 conversion worked on the NP22 frame?

Thanks

If it works I suggest to you get in touch with the CGNer you bought it from and find out who the smith was, and then find out what he did to make it fit. It'll be good to know since your gonna be hounded by people wanting to know those answers lol.

Since I wrote that piece I only had one person ask for specific info so I sent some pics and a write-up in a PM. Sorry I didn't post to the greater public.
What I can tell you is this - the conversion works flawlessly on the NP22. 2 members of my club allowed me to try it on their new purchases, one was a Mk.25 226, and the other an Enhanced Elite. Worked great on both.
So, if I was to sum it up I'd say first thing is that compared to other manufacturers offerings this thing is reasonably priced. However, the fact that it ships with only one magazine and that it lacks a follower is a bit of a downer. I ended up buying a new stainless guide rod and a follower. The rod is purely for aesthetics.
I would recommend this to any 226 owner.

Sorry we had to kick you for that snake.

Since we woke you up, might as well ask a few more details for the group.

We know it fits on your NP 22 and on genuine Sigs. Does it actually look like it was smithed or was it just a bit of basic fitting ? Can you ask the previous owner to post up some details of who, where, and how much he paid to get the conversion fit ?

thanks man

I looked up my feedback score and I can't remember the sellers name!
I can tell you that I can't see any major smith marks. Whatever had to be done appears minor, if anything. The person I bought it off never fired the thing himself and I don't know how familiar he is with the process. He said the smith put a mag of the 9mm through the NP22 and a mag of .22 through the conversion to ensure safe and reliable operation.
This question might better be posted to a gunsmith forum.
Sorry I can't be of any further assistance.

any chance you have a higher resolution pic of the underside of the slide and the top of the frame? that will give a few clues when comparing the unmodified parts we have

Here is a pic of the kit in pieces. The only tooling marks visible are the filing marks on the barrel at the action end.
I bought the extra rod, spring and magazine follower from Jeff at Sigpower. Not sure if he is still on web, you'll have to find his site.

Darn...I was hoping it wasn't Sigpower as they've since stopped selling/taking orders...but thanks for the info. I'll probably go the route of modifying the Blackdog followers to get the last round hold open.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but i have a NP22 coming in the mail and am going to pick up the conversion kit and see what's involved in making it fit. Will report back with findings.
