Ak mags- what's up with that?

Yikes. Romy drums are not all that rare down south, I got a rear-loading model imported for $150 or so. Gotta find the right seller.

I picked up a bunch of East German 30 rounders on the EE, now those are nice mags. Also have a bunch of Chinese flatbacks which are also pretty slick (no pun intended). Still looking for a bakelite but every time I see one they seem to go before I have the chance. Trade you some 20 round Hungarian tanker mags? :)

The rear loader are common, mine is the top loading slant one. It doesn't come straight out of the mag well, it bends a bit forward and doesn't need to be wound up

I remember About 10 years now someone brought a batch of those top loading Romanian drums in, I passed thinking I would pick one up down the line. That was a mistake I have never had a chance to purchase one since. Lots of Chinese but never seen another Romanian top loader.

Before the pinning of Hi Capacity Mags AK Mags and the like were dirt cheap.I picked up mags and drums from all over South Africa was awash with them.

I got extremely lucky and found an awesome guy who had 6 of them. I bought all six with a nice F2F deal.

I have 1 chinese rear loading drum and love it. Would like to own other manufactered one but seems near impossible to find. I have a modified 40 rounder Ak to VZ one that works really good. Also have a converted chinese drum VZ from ZAHAL to fit VZ. With some adjustments seems to work fine as well. If we could only get rid of the capacity limit I may actually use them more.

I prefer rear loading drums. You can leave them loaded with no spring tension and they're also easier to load and unload.

Would love to find a Chinese 100-rounder. Now THOSE are rare.

Only thing about a rear loader is i have seen to much tension when winding it up and the coil snaps. That and if you dont wind it up enough then the rounds don't feed
Both styles have pros and cons.
I was gonna say the 223 AK drum is ultra uber duper rare. Not to sure how many were actually produced
