300wby or a 7mmstw?????

Now that Berger has Guaranteed the 7mm 195 VLD at the shot show this year ... No question the STW.

Im going to rebarrel my 7 Remington mag after hunting season this year. Im going to opt for the wild cat 7mm WM this time around.

pilot2001.......is your barrel hooped? If not then there is no need to change it to go to the 7mm-300WM.

It will be shot out by the end of summer easy. It will have 1500 plus at that point. I Fed it 40 today , it will eat that again tomorrow. Been having lots of fun lately.

I think the 7wm will be worth the extra 150-200 fps , Id like to get the 195's going 2900 - 2950 fps and still get 1500 shots out of a barrel. I don't think ill see those speeds with a 7 rem and a 195.

I havnt completely ruled out the STW , but ... I likely wont being going that rout.

I really like the 7LRM gunwerks is doing , but necking down a 375 ruger seems like a lot of fking around for a guy reloading.

I will add , my buddy just did a 7WM and he's getting 3080 fps with a 180vld with sub .5 MOA at 300 yards. We are at sea level. The rifle is a complete super star so far

I don't think it seems too fast , 3080 fps with a 180 ... Huge difference in case capacity between the 7rem and the 300wm , Anyway ... he's running 74gr's of H1000 with a #5 28 inch barrel. I will run a 27 myself.

I was running 71.5 grains in my 7rem mag with a 180 and was getting 3100 + fps .... A long way away from accuracy though. My accuracy load is down around 2800 with a 180. Im using a 27 inch #4 Hart

I may possibly only get 3030 fps with a 180 , but im looking for around 2900 with the 195 so ... I think its doable. That will not happen with a 7rem mag

Just a question is anyone else finding it almost impossible to get STW brass? Have been looking for a friend for a while.
