Sounds like a great deal. I see Ellwood Epps has a ton of "Very good" M44's in stock for 379. I know Epps "Very good" actually means practically new.

Mine was Canada Post Expedited. Didn't pay for tracking, but this bothers me as Tracking is included with Expedited service and we shouldn't have to pay for it... just the seller trying to pad his pockets, I guess.

I stopped in to Epps tonight, looked a few over and picked out one. Had a hard time though, they were all nice. For the most part they are all matching, stamped numbers (no electropencil) with v-g to excellent bores. Even saw one with an East German inspector's grade-1 proof mark, which I would've grabbed other than the floorplate was force-matched. As it is I got a nice one, all matching, great bore with no repairs to the stock. Many thanks to Paul at Epps for his patience and wealth of milsurp knowledge. If anybody wants to buy one of these things over the phone IMHO he is the guy to talk to for the straight goods on any milsurp they have in stock. Having his eyes on it is almost as good as being there.

Steaming the stocks will work well,so will putting it in a garbage bag on the rear window deck in the hot summer. Not much good if you want to do it now.

Just purchased one. $262.00 to me here in the booners of N.B. I will use it as a shooter / truck gun as it is a non matching refirb but is handy and the round is hard hitting. Will look great next to the M38 I got from Tradex.
