I shot 198 cast bullets out of my G17 today.
It did't blow up and no leading at all. NONE.
No high pressure sign either.

After shoting:

After one pass of my bore snake:

As you can see the deposit on the first series of pictures was only powder deposite or lube. After cleaning I can't see any deposite in the barrel.

So moral of the story:
Do not listen to all the myth and misconception out there on the wild internet.

Go shooting and have fun! :)

supposedly all you have to do is clean it more often.

i saw both sides of story. Never tried myself since i dont shoot cast bullets

What was the hardness of the cast bullets you use? If you where using harder bullets (16+ bhn) that a lot of retail casting companies use you would avoid a lot of the issues with Glocks and cast bullets. Most of the issues I have read about are using ~12bhn cast bullets (smelted WW's with nothing added) and it just leads up the barrel. Never heard of them blowing up Glocks before.

I can't help but to comment. I shoot cast in my Glock 22 with the factory barrel. I use 180 gr cast WW's (not the pure stick-on's) water quenched, sized to .401" and tumble lubed with Lee alox. I have shoot around 300 or so, maybe a bit more, and have had no leading either. I am however concerned about case bulging. Some tell me that I should not worry. To be on the safe side since I like to reuse my cases as many times as possible, I'm going to buy an aftermarket barrel with full chamber support.

Why would shooting properly sized cast bullets out of a Glock be any more dangerous than doing the same with any other gun?

Glock voids their warranty if you attempt anything "lawyer proof". made in Austria, assembled in Georgia, and home of US attorneys.

I use pure WW water quenched sized at .356 tumble lubed.

I've shot a lot of cast lead in my G17. Leading can be an issue. A 50/50 mix of vinegar and hydrogen peroxide gets the lead out. There are no issues with plated Berry Bullets.

Another +1 to shooting lead from a glock, I do it all the time!

It's because of the polygonal rifling they use, it can build up lead quicker then normal rifling (can't think of the name). They also say reloads void the warranty, but it's very likely just for legal issues because everyone likes to sue other people for their mistakes.

I have been shooting lead through my GLOCK's for over a year exclusively, clean after use, myth dispelled, money in your pocket.
