So... A good friend and I want to go for a moose hunt this fall. He has suggested the area around Dawson Creek, B.C.
Every time I look on google earth or on the web, it looks like farmland all throughout the area. Do not really want to be hunting in this type of terrain. Was looking for decent moose habitat, lakes, marshy areas, the classic Northern Moose areas, that type of thing. We will be fully self equipped. Will have quads, but want to do hiking a bit so packboards will be brought along. Is there anything like that around Dawson CreekÉ

Yes, there is good hunting areas for moose around there but you have to get away from the farmland, unless you can get permission from the owner...there also seems to be a lot of hunting pressure on the fringe farmland areas.
Good luck on your hunt!

Lots of places like that around here... and still lots of moose. Try Brassey Creek & Halfmoon Creek & areas south along the road towards Tumbler Ridge; also the area around Groundbirch; north of the highway (Septimus area) and south... also south of Kelly Lk along the boundary road. Stay out of the community pastures until the restrictions are off (different for each one !?). Lots of country around and not too many people if you get away from the roads....

I have worked up in tumbler Ridge The local guys never had trouble getting there Moose or Elk
I'm hoping I will find time to go after a elk this year

Pay attention to the rain. It gets very muddy and you may be spending a night or 2 in you're truck if you aren't careful & prepared.

Go towards Tumbler. Mnt Puggins is another one that wasn't listed above.

Boundary Lake was good for my roommate last season.

Saw lots of success up Septimus and Stewart Lake roads, in particular up the Woody.
