Looking at
1. Winchester extream weather.
2. Savage weather warrior.
3. Weatherby vanguard s2 stainless
4. Ruger m77 Hawkeye stainless.

So far the model 70 extream weather is what I am considering. But the others cost less and may be just as good or better.

I am wondering what others think.

Caliber will be 7mm rem mag

The one that fits in your hands the best and feels the most comfortable to you...if two are equal, compare reviews. I know the Weatherby is made by Howa of Japan and it has a 3 shot group MOA guarantee.

Winchester first, Ruger second, Vanguard third (they don't make the stainless anymore and only the Vanguard MOA have the MOA guarantee not he regular Vanguards) and Savage last.

I was going to buy an Extreme Weather. I ended up buying the X-Bolt SS in a 300 WM. When I compared the two rifles, I liked the feel of the Browning over the M70. The one thing I considered was the texture of the stock. I thought when the Extreme Weather got wet, I felt the grip would get slippery. I am happy with my choice of rifle.

Remington was originally on my list but the stainless offerings I looked at in the $700-$800 price range did not look like actual stainless. They appeared to look like they had a steel grayish rough type of coating as opposed to the other stainless guns. The barrels had a dull finish with fifferent shades of grey in different spots. I did not pick them up as they were locked in the display rack. Perhaps it was some sort of coating used to protect them in storage or somthing...but it did not give me a great feeling

I have owned all four brands, personally I would put them in this order, Winchester, Ruger, Weatherby, unfortunately I believe price is the reverse order.

I have a Win 70 in 30-0. It's a great rifle. Took it Dall Sheep hunting last August and it was wet a good part of the time. I liked it so much I sold my Remington and Browning rifles and bought another Win 70 in 270. It's the classic featherweight SS with wood stock.

I would pick M70, Wby, Ruger, then several others, then Savage.

The M70 is several hundred $$ more than the Wby and Ruger.

According to Weatherby, they still make the stainless... http://www.weatherby.com/product/rifles/vanguard_2

I've been itching to try a model 70 again. my ruger m77 mkii 7wsm shoots real nice and I got the trigger honed so its pretty decent.

Nothing about the savage weather warrior gets me right randy .

I've been trying to as she was my first love but the spark has slowly faded

I would put the M70 and M77 neck and neck in first place... then the M700... then a Vanguard S2 (if you can find one)... then Savage... but any of them is a legitimate choice.
