Is there any place / good vids that show practical rifle (and pistol) drills?
I am not looking for "mall ninja" stuff, but real, useful and practical drills showing transition, reloading etc?
I've shot with a lot of noobies, and there are many firearms and different types of shooting. It seems like one of the biggest hurdles is the endless aiming, whether shotgun, rifle, or handgun. Once familiar with the firearm and its safety I like to get them 20 feet from a target where they can start with the firearm down, lift, acquire and fire. Whether targets, cans, gongs,or clays its the biggest hump.
I'm a hunter and in my opinion one of the most useless ways to learn to shoot is off a shooting bench with all the time in the world. There is a lot to be said for chasing around a pop can or bouncing target in a gravel pit with a .22 or sks from all shooting positions. 2 thumbs up for gopher shooting
For pistols, there is "pistol-training dot com" and "pistol-forum dot com" for training there's Phase Line Green and Agoge. Training beats websites by a factor of about 1,000.
