The JR Carbine Thread

Was wondering if any of you guys noticed a bit of wiggle in the barrel from your JR. I am using a low profile nut and it doesn't feel 100% snug.

Anyone else notice some wiggle in there?

I took a key ring and used pliers to shape it (then trimmed off the excess) to the size of the inside of the barrel nut where it is supposed to secure up against the barrel. Seemed to work well. Barrel is snug.

get a oil drain plug from a 98 VW passat 1.8L. factory ones have a nice crush, and it is the perfect size. place between the nut and the frame, then tighten as normal.

I bought one and the drain plug washer is fairly thin. I'm assuming that you are placing this between the barrel flange and the receiver, and not between the nut and barrel flange? I thought about this, and wasn't comfortable with changing anything to do with the way the barrel extension protrudes into the receiver...so in the end, ground down a washer to fit between the nut and flange instead.

By the way...if anyone wants an oil drain plug washer to do Powerwagon's method...I have a few I can throw in the mail for you if you like...freebies.

goes between the barrel nut and the barrel. DON NOT space the barrel from the receiver.

Hmm...that's interesting, because when I bought the gasket from the VW dealer in MR, the width of the gasket was too narrow, and it slipped right through the barrel nut. Just remembered that of course the barrel nut I used may have had a larger hole than other AR barrel nuts, causing the gasket to slip through. Never mind. :D

Welcome to the JR carbine thread, it appears you took a wrong turn, I think there's a TD thread... somewhere... try a few pages back.
Oh yea, do TD carbines take AR forends, or would you need a machinist to fit what the JR needs a $1 washer to fit?

I noticed my barrel was a little loose with an aftermarket handguard,..I trimmed a little off the end (facing action) so it would tighten up....no issues.

Soo I'm new to this whole 9mm game. Is the ammunition different from say a gloc hand gun to the jr ? If so what is different and why ? What should I be looking for. Just think some a$$hat is trying to give me the run around, but want to make sure. Thanks guys/ gals.

Anything that says 9mm luger is 9mm luger dont get too sidetracked with the +p, you can shoot +pin pretty almost pretty much any recently produced firearm. There was a little note early on in the production of the JR that said no 9mm+p, but they reversed that with the newer production runs of the rifle.

It is the same but your JR if it is newer can handle some hotter ammo. I have been running 124gr.
