I dont know much about the Garands... only ever had the Norinco M14/M305s. However, I have stumbled upon a Winchester Garand

From what I understand, the Winchesters are more uncommon than the Springfields as well. As mentioned; I dont know much about the Garands and the draw numbers/serials are throwing me off on how to date it or know if its matching.

Can anyone tell me more about this one? From what Ive come up with the bolt and the barrel draw numbers are correct, but I dont know about the remainder of parts. I also asked more about the stock to find out if theres any markings on it.

Haha, I was wondering the same thing. Im assuming the blacked part out is WRA

But that being said, it was done by the person who is interested in selling it. I appreciate the offer bird blaster; Ive asked for more pictures/more info on it; and in the meantime, doing some reading up on it these and some of their telling features (mainly the stocks; the curve near the receiver/back of pistol grip, the "V" shape on the inside, etc).

good call... what a POS. He had his location listed as Toronto; so I planned on coming to pick it up/look at it in person; but now hes suddenly in Ottawa. Should have been a red flag off the bat. I still planned on going to Ottawa to view it though and he said no worries on that and he would have more pictures for me shortly (but has gone silent now)

No problem. There's nothing to be embarrassed about -- its an easy mistake. I was considering buying a nice Argentinian FN49 on that site before I noticed the pictures were stolen off Gun Broker.

Glad you got the heads up before you were out any $$$. Reverse image search is your friend, as well as searching for wording from the ad in google. The scammers have gotten a little more sophisticated, but the old adage still applies: if it's too good to be true...

I can't believe the number of scammers on "that" site; at least for milsurps, and Garands in particular, there are more scam ads than legitimate ads by a considerable margin.

I'd avoid and stick the EE unless you can do a face-to-face.

I'm in Ottawa and always willing to help out a fellow CGNer! I'm extremely friendly and easy to get along with so I'm sure the seller won't mind me looking at it and taking pictures for you.

Will have to look into this reverse image search so I dont end up in this situation again. Haha appreciate it Tank! Maybe if he responds we'll see what he has to say about that.
