Everyone has an opinion and a preference so I hold no delusions that everyone will love what I've done. But I love it... and as we all secretly long to do, I want to show it off.

So here she is. Im new to AR's... beginning of the winter I bought my first, built it actually... since then I've built 5 and owned about 10. I think this is a keeper though.

Pics first:

Specs:
-DD M4V5 upper and lower. DD Bolt/carrier and LPK.
-ATRS 10.5 Heavy profile with matching low pro gas block. Carbine length.
-10 inch Diamond head rail
-Troy Claymore brake
-Phase 5 Charge handle, bolt release and trigger guard
-ACE M4 Socom stock
-CMC Drop in trigger, 4lbs
-Fab grip, Magpul AFG, Magpul BUIS
-JP one piece mount, Bushnell AR-223 FFP 1-4X24

I think that covers it. My ONLY complaint at the moment is the ATRS barrel is REALLY heavy. I have a DD 11.5 light profile on its way to me along with a Dlask XB-1 brake and think I may end up using that instead. The gun is pretty front heavy and I was going for more of a light weight feel. It will look very similar if I do decide to switch. I want to see the barrel first before I make up my mind.

So, what do you think? How did I do for my first build?

Nice, I really dig that rail, looks sharp. I have the Phase 5 Trigger guard on my 7.5" too....looks sharp as hell.
Very nice Sir.

Looks pretty cool! Does the AFG flex since it's only supported via the front only? Hey, where'd you get that Bushnell AR223 PCL Throwdown optic??!! :)

I got the bushnell from a country that is not ours and must not be named... lest I go to prison for being a hardened criminal. Lol... Midway has them. I have 2 and they are awesome. I didnt know what First Focal Plane was before I picked up my first one, now, it seems like the only way to go. The quick throw lever is really a neat feature in that it folds down so quick. Its not at all in the way like some others are. The adjustment ring is ultra smooth too. Doesnt take much effort at all to go from 1-4. Nice optic for the money, I think I paid right around $250 for it.

The hand guard came with a gun I bought a little while ago but OSTS sells them. The AFG really isnt necessary as the hand guard is very comfortable on its own but I had it so I threw it on. Its mounted to a Magpul rail section for their hand guard... the bolt pattern was the same as the Diamondhead.

Not only that, but from the specs I'm seeing online, that handguard is also a pig.
1lb,4oz. That's quite a bit compared to what is out there.

I'm fond of that handguard myself, really like the looks of it. Almost bought one myself, but I just didn't like the weight specs.
Still want to try it someday.

I threw this together for kicks the other day, it's my lightest config to date.

It looks funny but it handles really well.

I call it the Lewis PDW. Hah.

Oh yeah, I think I bought that stock from you.

^^ You did, I remember that. Lol
The hand guard is actually not at all heavy. Not sure where they are measuring their specs from but it weighs less than the DD hand guard I took off. Im sure there are much lighter ones out there (like yours, which looks pretty cool) but this is the one I had always wanted to use.

I think the SoCom stock may be heavy also, I may switch to the Skeleton like your using just to see how it effects weight.

LOL, gotcha! :)

The scope is only a 1-4 and is pretty useful when shooting matches that range from 10-50 yards. I suck with a red dot at 50 yards. So this works great.

Finally got the parts i wanted to complete this gun. A DD lightweight profile 11.5 barrel and an ACE Skeleton stock. Also got a standard shape CMC drop in trigger setup. I like the regular shape better than the flat. Added a Burris Fastfire III on a 45 mount and scrapped the AFG for a VFG which feels better in my hands for sure. Lastly I've decided to use a Magpul MAID instead of the FAB grip. The laser on there is just for interest sake. Ive never tried one before so I'm going to test it out and see how it works. It likely wont stay on the gun very long.
