Good shooting bud n thanks for the vid. Never did a side by side comparison of Chinese and Russian surplus but will have to the next time I'm at the range with one of the x54 eaters. My surplus ammo is mostly for reserve though.

I think Im going to have to get a Mosin now............that was some nice group with surplus.
Should be able to squeeze it a bit tighter with handloads.

Thanks for the positives on the video. I will be reloading for the M38 in the future. Good grouping and way less fouling with the chinese ammo.
The russians ammo has to be the most dirtiest stuff i have seen. My black powder revolver isn't even close to being as dirty as those rifles were, shooting about the same amount of rounds!

What year is the ammo? What factories? What type of ammo is it? (heavy ball or light ball)
"Russian and Chinese Surplus" is kind of vague considering the Russians have been making it since 1891.

Judging by the can markings that ammo is made at Factory "10" located in Kazanluk, Bulgaria. So not Russian.
The point was that there were, from what I can glean, about 6 factories making the stuff from the end of WW2 to the fall of the Soviet Union. Add to that the former Warsaw pact factories.
Most shops, and people for that matter, wouldn't know the difference, as all ammo packaged this way uses the same marking style.

I'll stand by the Bulgarian (Not Russian) ammo is not very clean nor accurate in my rifles.
Then again, this is military stuff, I used a chrony on norinco 5.56mm a number of years ago. One box of twenty ranged 600 ft/sec between rounds.
Weighing the surplus 7.62x54r (Bulgarian) bullets I pulled ranged in weight 3-4gr. Your not going to get very good accuracy in that with a bolt action, let alone a surplus semi auto. The powder seemed some what consistent.
If you want to throw bullets down range, use what ever you like. I'll burn up the surplus in the svts and reload for the mosin's for more accuracy.

Good idea to use the surplus in your SVTs since they'll destroy good brass. You can also pull bullets from the surplus and replace with your own projectiles for hunting or replace both powder and bullets to increase accuracy.
