I finally got my hands on one of these little beauties and absolutely love it.
Thanks to One Shot Tactical. Great service, fast shipping, and props to darren and Jenn for going out of there way to keep me in the loop on orders and such. Props to them
Onto the review
I wanted a one piece QD mount so i could run one good quality scope between all my rifles.
I wanted something well made and good for both target shooting, hunting, able to stay in my pack until i got to camp instead of letting my scope bounce around on my rifle in the back seat of the truck, keep the scope low to the barrel, and most of all able to HOLD ZERO WITH REPEATED REMOVAL AND REINSTALL!!!
I did my typical internet research and found many a brand including Larue and Burris.
Then on another forum i stumbled upon American Defence Manufacturing
Lots of great reviews on the one piece mounts so i decided to give it a shot and OST had some on order and i grabbed one
Came boxed up in a plastic bag covered in oil to prevent rust, allen wrench, and a piece of paper that had info on the QD SYSTEM
First thing i noticed was that it was very well made. tight. couldn't find any irregularities with my caliper, and the finish is top notch and very scratch resistant.
The rings are held in the bottom by 2 screws and a dowel slot to keep them in place. This was a nice touch when setting up the scope and keeping the rings together
I got it mated up to my vortex HS-LR 6-24x50 and leveled out with the proper eye relief. Onto my Tikka T3 Tactical .308 slightly upgraded
I started playing with how tight to make the QD levers and after some testing i found that snug is better than to tight. it put stress on the rail when you cinched them up and my groups showed. so i loosened them off a tough and was back into my 1 - .75moa groups with no issues.
The best thing i like about these QD mounts is that you cant accidentally undo them if they get hooked on something. You physically have to depress the small lock to lift the lever. Plus in my book.
Next i repeatedly removed the system from the rail and then reinstalled it in the same spot and took 1 shot. i did this 10 times and every time it was bang on where it was before. Repeatability/reliability is bang on
Overall i thing this is a great mount for someone looking for a one piece that they can rely on and not worry about taking it on and off.
I'm sure there are better rings and such out there but for a QD mount system. This is at the top of the list. Not just by features but from performance and design.
I give it solid 2 thumbs up
