I have a TRS-25 on my Scout Squad M14 shorty and it is a real nice match. Of course, I would love to have a Hensoldt RSA, but money doesn't grow on trees.
I put my socom 18 in a blackfeather with the intent of using it as a fast semi auto for still hunting whitetails in heavy cover. Ive been kicking around the idea of what optic to mount and ive chosen the leupold fx 2.5 ultralight.(not the scout model).I like the brighter image a scope gives me at dusk and while hunting on overcast or rainy days.
I would go for a railed handgard mount if a red dot is what you want or a scout mount they say the ultimak rail and a trs25 you can still see the irons
I finally got the rifle degreased and cleaned up today, had to double shim the gas system but it's tight now. Haven't had it to the range yet. I went with a TRS-25 on the scout mount. Thanks for the suggestions. I can just see the top of the front sight through the optic in this position.
