Got lucky at the range with new rifle and first batch of reloads.

Traded for a used Remington 700 .223 with factory 1:12 twist carbon fiber wrapped barrel which is 1.25 inch diameter in an AICS 1.5 chassis.
It's a Falcon Menace Counter Sniper 4.5-18x56 on it, not sure if I'm going to keep it or not but for now it will do.

Decided the 1:12 should be fed something light so I went and bought some 36gr Varmint Grenades and went with IMR4198.

These are all 5 shot groups @ 100yds

I think my load development is done for these bullets. Still have a few other bullet/powder combinations to try but I think all I have left for these is to make some more and run them through the chronograph.

Damn! Nice shooting! Lucked out on the bullet/powder combo! haha, you just saved some powder and pills in testing. Now you can do the "My rifle shoots 0.5" MOA all day" challenges. :)

That's it for the 36gr Varmint Grenades, I still have Nosler 50gr, 60gr and 62gr varmint bullets to try as well as Hornady 55gr FMJ and 50gr and 60gr v-max's to try.
The loads with 36gr grenades and H322 were not as good but most were still around 1 MOA, just no groups with all bullets touching.
Just ordered 4 more pounds of IMR4198 and bought 500 more of the 36gr today at Cabela's. My 17 Fireball loves that powder as well.

I was worried you might not be in load development for 6 months on a new toy, thank god I was wrong! lol

I might mess around a little with seating depth or try 0.1 grains of powder on each side of the 21.3gr charge but I don't think there is much room for improvement other than in my shooting or if I swap in my Sightron 6-24x50. This rifle is going to be for shooting coyotes and wabbits, not competition target shooting and considering it's only a 36gr bullet I won't be doing any 500yd + shooting with this load either.
I'll be happy if the next batch of 21.3gr under the 36gr pill does the same thing. Then I'll chrony them just to see what they are doing and head out hunting.

I'm almost ready to do those with my 17 fireball, this 223, the Savage 308 and my DTA 338 Lapua.
I'm never satisfied though, maybe I should stop selling and trading rifles and keep them long enough to finish development on them.
 
I took the calipers to those holes and eyeballing the center to center came out to 0.355 inch wide by 0.331 inch height.

I think we have a winner with 21.3gr. :D

Pretty good for a factory barrel.

Nope I'm ready for bunnies this spring :)
You better get some time off so we can go shooting.

I'm selling off some glass and going to buy this one a NF 3.5-15, I think it's earned it.
Now I just need to decide between 50 or 56mm objective and between the MOAR or NP-R2 reticle.
