Help me choose my first scope! 3-9x40, general hunting, $300 price range

Leupold VX-2, 3-9X. I have had one of these on my hunting rifle for about 20 years. The dials have never been touched once the scope was zeroed. I had a bad fall one time landing with all my body weight full force onto the top turret on a big rock. Stopped at a gravel pit on the way back to camp expecting to rezero the scope. Fired one shot at 100 yards and told my hunting buddies that I pulled the shot 1 inch right. Went down and looked at the target and the shot was 1 inch right just like I called it.

Thank you for your feedback fellas!

I'm assuming that those binos are not elites as elites have some of the best coatings available. Also scratches come from abuse and no optics stand up to abuse. There is a very big difference from the bottom line products to the best in any product line.

I recently bought a Burris Fullfield E1.

What initially sold me was the clarity when I looked through it (and was looking at a Leupold and Nikon at the same time).

What will get me to buy a second one is their warranty. Even if YOU bust the scope because you drop it THEY will fix it for nothing - no receipt, no first owner crap, no excuses, no conditions - they will fix it forever, on their dime, no matter how it gets wrecked.

I am not aware of any other optic that offers that kind of warranty.

I picked up a leupold VX2 off of the EE for under $300. Very happy with it as well as my VX3s. I havent had to deal with warranty work but I have heard good things from ppl who have dealt with them in the past.
