any experiences with this powder? the pistol is not compensated and the caliber is 9mm.

It is the only thing half decent I could find.

I've tried it in 38 Supercomp in a compensated racegun, thinking it would THE powder for it, and was very disappointed. Found it was VERY dirty.

Reverted to VV 3N38, which is way cleaner, but sadly, 50% more expensive.

Supposedly Auto-Comp generates larges volumes of gasses to increase the effectiveness of the compensator, but I didn't see much difference, and that feature would be useless for a non-compensated gun.
 
I just finished a pound and love the stuff for 147grn 9mm and 230grn .45 in the nine I was able to find a load that shoots soft and accurate and from a matrix rest had my sr1911 shooting tighter than any factory round has yet.

Interesting. I had assumed that Autocomp was mainly used for major loads in 9mm. Can you tell me what your load was for 45acp with 230g projectiles?

No problem I used the data that came with my lee die set for this load it is listed under jacketed bullet but I worked it up using campro and berry plated bullets with no problem. starting load 6 grns maxload 6.6 grns col 1.200. I only went as high as 6.4 because the groups were starting to open up 6 grns is the ticket with my gun. Should be published on the hogdon web site and for 9mm I used the data found in hornady#9 and when I worked up a few loads with shorter col for feeding reliability with a load at the lighter end of the scale it kept its group but brought the recoil way down in my gun.

The use of AutoComp in 9mmP cannot be compared to use in 38 Super, so do not worry. I have used AutoComp in 9mmP, 40 S&W, 44 Mag with light 180gr and 200gr (to play IPSC) and 45 ACP (185gr and 230gr) and it works well. It gives higher velocities than fast powders such as 231, cannot take a double charge in the 9mmP case, has low muzzle flash, and meters better and is cleaner burning than Unique.

Many reloading manuals do not list AutoComp, but I have found useful load data in the Lee 2nd Ed. and the Hodgdon's reloading data.
